c (Hanacaraka: ꦥꦤꦁꦒꦭ꧀ꦭꦤ꧀ꦗꦮ;)kalender Jawa memakai dua siklus hari: siklus mingguan yang terdiri dari tujuh hari (Ahad sampai Sabtu, saptawara) dan siklus pekan pancawara yang terdiri dari lima hari pasaran. Pada tahun 1633 Masehi (1555 Saka), Sultan Agung dari Mataram berusaha keras menanamkan agama Islam di Jawa. Salah satu upayanya adalah mengeluarkan dekret yang mengganti penanggalan Saka yang berbasis perputaran matahari dengan sistem kalender kamariah atau lunar (berbasis perputaran bulan). Uniknya, angka tahun Saka tetap dipakai dan diteruskan, tidak menggunakan perhitungan dari tahun Hijriyah (saat itu 1043 H). Hal ini dilakukan demi asas kesinambungan, sehingga tahun saat itu yang adalah tahun 1555 Saka diteruskan menjadi tahun 1555 Jawa.
