Awal kemunculan grup Exists pada awal 90-an sekitar tahun 1991. Exists ketika itu dikenal dengan nama Exist yang beranggotakan 6 musisi remaja. Exist jika dirujuk pada kamus bermaksud ada/wujud yang mana ingin menjadikan grup musik yang terus ada.Anggota Exists ketika itu ialah Mamat (Vokal), Musa (Bass), Along (Gitar), Ujang (Dram), Shah (Gitar) dan Ajai (Keyboard).
Pada tahun 1991 mereka telah muncul dengan album pertama mereka yang berjudul Exist di bawah label perusahaan rekaman JOJO's Production yang berpusat di Johor Bahru. Album pertama mereka telah melonjakkan nama mereka dipersada musik Malaysia di mana lagu 'Untukmu Ibu' berjaya mencuri hati peminat. Album ini juga telah mencatatkan penjualan yang membanggakan dengan 250,000 unit.
