Track and report Heritage units (locomotives) and other special interest units for Norfolk Southern, Union Pacific, CSX, BNSF, CN, CP and other railroads.

Features:

• View reported locomotives within a configured mile radius of your devices location.
• Report a new locomotive location directly from the app
• View locomotives on google maps
• Setup android notifications to alert you when a newly reported locomotive has been recorded on the site.
All recorded locomotive information is provided by volunteers using native apps and website (https://heritageunits.com)

Explanation of why various permissions are needed:

• The "Location" permission is required so that the app can determine your location to find locomotives near you, assist during recording a new report and center the map on your position and allow for submission of new reports. The app first attempts to determine your location via the network, if that fails the app then tries to determine your location via GPS.

• The "Wi-Fi connection information" permission is needed so that the app can determine whether or not Wi-Fi is enabled and whether the app is currently using that connection.

• The "Device ID & call information" permission is needed by the app (but only if your device is running Android 2.x or higher). Encoded to store only a partial ID during reporting; it is used to validate a user's account has not be compromised

5 ★Very impressive.

4 ★This app is a game changer. I love it! I do have a few suggestions for it though 1: a way I could report rare or odd freight/passenger cars. Freight cars like depressed flatcars, fallen flag paint schemes, etc. 2: an option to where I could click on someone's profile and see all of their photos, reports, and social media profiles. That should be all for now. This is a great app and I can't wait to see what it can turn into in the future!! Thank you.

4 ★It works as advertised. There's a few bugs, but the staff works hard to make sure the app runs smoothly. I've had trouble with seeing a locomotive in person but not being at the place/time I made the report (I made the report later). The system often deletes those, even if they're legit. A feature that would be nice is if you can edit your report (notes, symbol, etc. but NOT time/place/loco). Edit: I revisited my review because I've noticed a better experience! :)

4 ★Its a nice app but the 25th Anniversary unit I caught, it wont let me upload it saying that the image is invalid when I took the picture. Please fix this

4 ★This app is great. Only drawbacks are that some calculated routes are wrong, but that is understandable. I like that we have advanced eta times, but sometimes they are inaccurate missing factors such as yard work, stops, etc. Thanks for the great app Mr. Brian! 👍

1 ★This app is terrible I was using it the other day now I can't even get anything to load up on any of there deals now I am very disappointed in this app nowadays.

2 ★I used to love this app but now it limits you to a 75 mile radius to view heritage units in your area. I used to be able to see over 300 miles. Now if you want to see further you have to scroll thru all the reports. That's the problem. Somebody makes a call thinking it'll be better than it was but in fact it's now an inconvenience.
