REMINDER: THIS APP IS FOR DISCUSSING SCOTTISH POLITICS.It’s amazing to think that despite saying No to Independence last September, Scotland is finding itself embracing politics in a way that would be thought inconceivable a few years back. Fueled by a desire to see “social justice” in the country, Yes voters may be disappointed in not winning the vote, but they are determined to ensure Scotland prospers as much as possible.
Part of the way this is happening is by breaking away from traditional media, which failed to accurately represent the mood of the nation in the build up to the referendum vote.
Allegations of bias were lodged against the BBC, and almost all of the newspapers either spoke out - or heavily implied at being in favour of maintaining the Union.
Rather than being armchair activists, there are now people out there who are attempting to change things. A daily newspaper in favour of independence is on the shelves. Some journalists are attempting to create a truly Scottish news media, with old-fashioned investigative reporting replacing “don’t ask questions” sound-bite news stories that we’re fed to by the fourth estate.
Jott is here as a way to connect all of this together. Similar in style to Twitter, it is a social media platform for Scottish politics (and everything surrounding it). It has been developed since very soon after the referendum result and is currently in a private testing phase.
Whilst Jott is intended for people that support Scottish Independence, anyone is free to join and use it.
The testing phase for Jott is in process. There is no set timetable for how long testing will be carried out for, but all feedback is warmly welcomed.
