My Things is an app developed by CanAssist at the University of Victoria as a way to easily explore personally meaningful music and photos. It is designed to help people living with dementia [in a care facility] by entertaining them, sparking memories, encouraging socialization, and reducing resistance to care. A help videos feature allows friends and family to record short videos to encourage their loved one to, for example, take medicine or treat others with respect. But the core of the app is simply allowing music to work its magic. Playing that music is just one screen-tap away, and the results have been very encouraging.*** WHO IS IT FOR? ***
My Things is especially beneficial to people who are living with dementia, and their caregivers. It may also be useful for anyone who wants a simplified interface to music and photos, including those with:

- Dyslexia, literacy challenges, etc.
