کتاب کامل امام رضا (ع)علی بن موسی بن جعفر معروف به امام رضا (۱۴۸–۲۰۳ق) هشتمین امام شیعه اثناعشری. امام رضا ۲۰ سال امامت را بر عهده داشت که با خلافت هارون الرشید(۱۰ سال)، محمد امین (حدود ۵ سال)، مأمون (۵ سال) همزمان شد. مأمون عباسی او را به اجبار به خراسان آورد و به اکراه، ولیعهد خویش کرد. حدیث سلسلة الذهب که در نیشابور از ایشان نقل شده معروف است. مأمون میان وی و بزرگان دیگر ادیان و مذاهب جلسات مناظره تشکیل می‌داد که سبب شد همگی به برتری و دانش او اقرار کنند.
آن حضرت در طوس به دست مأمون شهادت رسید. حرم او در مشهد زیارتگاه مسلمانان است و سالانه میلیون ها نفر به زیارت اما رضا در مشهد می روند.
