Floricienta fue una telenovela argentina tipo comedia romántica, infantil y juvenil, producida por Cris Morena y RGB Entertainment y transmitida durante 2004 y 2005 por eltrece. Está basada en el cuento popular de Charles Perrault, pero a su vez tiene un gran paralelismo con la famosa película de Robert Wise, The Sound of Music, (titulada «Sonrisas y lágrimas» o «La novicia rebelde» en los países hispanos). La serie también se transmitió por cable en Disney Channel.2 Floricienta influyó notablemente en la cultura popular del país y tuvo una serie de versiones, adaptaciones y remakes, hechos en distintos y variados idiomas, y generó a lo largo de su desarrollo una serie de admiradores y detractores.La serie está protagonizada por Florencia Bertotti, Juan Gil Navarro y Fabio Di Tomaso, y cuenta con las participaciones antagónicas de Isabel Macedo, Gerardo Chendo y Graciela Stéfani. Cuenta además con la participación especial de Benjamín Rojas, Zulma Faiad, Henny Trayles, Hilda Bernard y un gran elenco.
Filmada en el partido de San Isidro, provincia de Buenos Aires, y ambientada en el barrio de Belgrano, Capital Federal, está dirigida al público infantil, juvenil, y hasta familiar. Combina la comedia, el humor, el romance, el drama y el musical.
Floricienta ha sido llevada, en forma de musical, a los teatros de Argentina y buena parte de Hispanoamérica, Europa y Medio Oriente de la mano de los protagonistas de la primera y segunda temporada, además de una combinación de ambas. El final de la segunda temporada fue grabado en vivo en el Hipódromo de San Isidro, y para su emisión televisiva fue trasladado al horario central de las 21 horas.3
Durante 2012 se volvió a emitir, esta vez por el canal competidor Telefe, para Argentina arrasando en audiencia llegando a medir 14.5 puntos de rating, y liderando ampliamente su franja. Debido al éxito que logró en las tardes, Telefe sacó a la venta el CD de la 1.ª temporada y también comenzó a comercializar el álbum de figuritas. En 2015 se anunció que Floricienta tendrá su versión animada en 2017, producida y escrita por su creadora, Cris Morena y dirigida por Juan Jose Campanella, en asociación con el grupo Discovery para su emisión en Discovery Kids, como resultado, el canal Telefe volverá a transmitir Floricienta en el año próximo.
