Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

1 ★Very rarely works , and no matter how many times you turn notifications on it never works. Since the "update" I just get a white screen . So ppl that was supposed to collect haven't as I assume they can't access aswell
3 ★Great useful app only prob is you have to request each item if person is offering loads, they can't just select it all for you. In that time someone already arranged pick up🙄 also app doesn't always give notifications!! Someone sent me 2 offers but I'd already moved house car away by then😤😤 missed out hugely
3 ★Used the app for a couple of years now and always been a huge fan of the app. However since the latest update and the introduction of ads when requesting items, it has become quite annoying.
1 ★Advertising completely defeats the purpose of this app which is to collect free leftover food. Now you have to pay to be able to request unless you want to sit through endless advertising. By the time you've watched an add the food you wanted has already been requested. Olio is probably mostly used by folk who cannot afford the rising costs of life. So there you have it, it hurts the people that need it the most.
4 ★The apps functionality is great. I guess it will vary area to area, but it's been really easy to rehome unwanted free items in our area. Selling has been less successful. I've dropped 1 star as I wish the notifications settings could be better customised. It seems they're either on or off. You need them on to get quick notifications of messages when you have items offered, etc, but then you also get lots of other notifications that I just don't want and it cannot be a bit annoying.
4 ★This app is such a good idea and we use it a lot. But I don't understand why phone notifications are available for everything except when someone messages you. If you're arranging for someone to pick up this means you need to constantly open and check the app for messages. They're easily missed so sometimes this means it takes ages to sort out out. It's very annoying!! Please don't send messages to my email, please send notifications!
1 ★This app is TERRIBLE, which is sad because it makes sharing with your neighbours difficult and stressful. Notifications tell you that you have a message, but you can't view it by tapping the notification; you have to navigate to the app yourself and open it. When you arrange a pickup the item doesn't show as reserved if another person messages about it, which is a nightmare when you have multiple listings. The 'like' button doesn't bookmark a listing; you'll have to search to find it again.
2 ★Haven't used this app in a while. I had free food I wanted to advertise. I get to the picture taking and it takes the picture but once you select OK the phone screen turns white and goes back to the home screen! I cannot load anything i want to sell or give away. I Have uninstall the app 3 times and loaded it again just in case this was a problem, but every time I have the same issue
1 ★I have issues with notifications. I do not receive notifications from the app, despite that being allowed in my settings. Also, the messages tab in the app would usually have a red dot if you have unread messages, now it's no longer shown. Unread messages also no longer appear in bold. I have to go into every single chat and refresh in order to check for new messages. Because of this I have missed a lot of messages and collections from people.
1 ★Robot customer service. People ask you to give them food past the use by date (which is against the rules). When you don't they make up a reason to report you and the app blocks you for 3 months automatically without investigating! People who do not even want the food will message you at 11pm at night to demand to know what happened with it! Opens people up for abuse. Use to collect but I don't recommend volunteering. Volunteer at a foodbank or for another organisation that supports it's staff!
4 ★I wish the pictures in the listings can be zoomed bigger. Useful app to give away stuffs or look for free give away things or food. I'll give 5 stars if the pictures in the app can be enlarged more.
1 ★Has gone really downhill recently to make money. Been using it for a year, giving away stuff and collecting some food every week. They have implemented a paywall where you can only request 20 items a month for free, which results in massive amounts of food going to waste. On top of that, you still get penalised for requesting 7 items in a week, so there are two restrictions happening in parallel. And as icing on the cake they make you watch a 30 sec ad (that they get paid for) for each request.
