Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

2 ★Switching to another app temporarily and returning to the New Scientist app causes it to (slowly) load the issue again, therefore losing my place in the text and requiring me to find it again. Annoying. Might just stick to reading it in web browser.
1 ★subscription. when i download any magazine or view an article i only get a white screen. tried reinstalling. no joy. same problem. it could be easier to navigate articles as well.
1 ★Downloaded the app and couldn't get any articles to open, only white screen. Also, even if this had worked the idea that you go issue by issue with no thematic way to search content is very clunky. This App really needs a rethink.
1 ★I download an edition, select a story and the screen goes blank. It stays that way and there no way to return to the previous screen. So I can't use it at all. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't fix it
3 ★Could do better. It works, but much better use could be made of screen space - it only uses about half the screen on my Note 10+. It needs a clearer layout, with an index. It's slow to load content, and spends a long time showing the spinning "loading" symbol, even when it can't be losing stuff, because I've just used it. Images don't expand if you zoom. Should do better.
2 ★It works. The articles are presented nicely and the content is nice However this app is very slow and unresponsive. It crashes on my tablet and slow on my phone.
5 ★Better than I had expected from the reviews. If you have bought a subscription you obviously need to initially log in to the app. I have tried it on both my android phone and Chromebook and it works well on both. The Chromebook version has been optimised for Chromebook, though perhaps it could be a little smoother - at least on my tablet. Downloading for offline use works well But I'm quite happy with it. I also paid for the print version, but I might consider just using the digital one.
1 ★The app is terrible. It usually fails to load anything. When it does load, it does so at such a snail's pace I want to give up. It also asks me to pay for issues, despite my subscription. That's what happens on my Android tablet. On my Android phone it's just a blank screen. I won't renew my subscription.
2 ★A terrible buggy mess of an app. You can tell there's some good content there, it's just getting to it that's the problem. Very disappointing 😞
2 ★Very flakey app regular blank screens, app freezes, downloads take a long time to arrive and render real shame because content is good but lose interest by the time I get to it
1 ★This app is rubbish. I don't want to read New Scientist online, and i resent that there isn't an option to subscribe to the magazine without getting the app included. It means that the "discounted" rate for an annual subscription, which is listed as 61%, is actually only 25% off the list price. I'm going to start reading New Scientist for free at the library once my current subscription runs out.
2 ★Poorly designed app for a great magazine. In particular the latest version has broken the content menu so it only scrolls down, so you have to delete and reload the issue to go back to the top of the menu. And why hide the delete issue button in the view thumbnails menu!?
