Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

5 ★The quality of the narration is very good, and Curio does a nice job curating the articles that show up in the feed. If a piece of long-form journalism is making the rounds, I can count on it showing up in the app. I mostly use it when I’m driving or tidying up, so it’s great for when I otherwise wouldn’t have an hour (or more) to sit down and read that one story I’ve been meaning to get to.
5 ★Update to my previous review, which you can also check. I'm increasing the number of stars from 4 to 5, as Curio became a routine part of my life. I listen to it instead of music when I drive to and from the office, and sometimes during breakfast. It feels effortless to learn about what's going on and new things around us. My anxiety coming from FOMO reduced as it feels like I'm reading newspapers every day. P. S. Jonathan Booth is the best reader.
5 ★Regarding the content, I’m consistently impressed with the selection of articles. I’m hoping they continue to expand on the publications they offer, but the current selection is truly excellent. I have a few favorite narrators. As someone who drives for 5+ hours every week, I can’t recommend Curio highly enough.
3 ★Annoying bugs. I lost all my downloads in an automatic upgrade, which I'd spent a lot of time choosing and curating, and don't seem to be getting much useful support despite being a subscriber. They actually still there somewhere but the app won't recognise them. Don't think I'll probably resubscribe next year. If I want an app that doesn't work even BBC sounds is better!
4 ★EDIT after update: Well improved since last comment. No more bugs. Flowing track, I can now enjoy great articles without pause. Just a few issues of navigation (return key could take you back to main screen instead of quitting the app, and the lecture starts a bit to randomly when an article is selected). Great idea and narration, diverse articles and interesting topics. But the app is crashing too frequently to grant the yearly subscription. When problems are resolved, I will re-install it.
2 ★User interface is annoying, design could use a lot of work. Better/clearer organization would be nice. The dev team should have some new users play around with the app and give them feedback. Something small like triggering an event on tap is bad. It should be tap down *and* let go on a button. Otherwise there's unnecessary triggers. Scrolling up would lead to unintentionally expanding current podcast playback., and sometimes following with unintentionally skipping to another time.
5 ★app works beautifully and delivers exactly what I’d hoped it would: an audio selection of terrific long-form articles from a variety of publications. magazines through this service. If you enjoy good journalism but don’t want to spring for multiple subscriptions, this is a very nice compromise.
4 ★For the first 2 months it worked just fine. Now it keeps crashing. I start it up and it immediately shuts down. I have cleared the cache and uninstalled. Nothing works. I have granted full permissions, still nothing. I subscribed for a year. I want a refund. Update. The latest app update fixed the problem. Thank You Curio.
2 ★The Curio content and readers are first-rate, but the app! The app is a horror show. It's gone from bad (no back-button navigation, won't let you exit from the notification bar, won't unload from memory) to worse (huge headline images, can't scroll without accidentally activating a story, horrible screen real-estate use in which text is truncated and inaccessible.)
2 ★Disingenuous description. They list the Washington Post before Aeon (whatever this publication is), but they hardly have any articles by the former and have hundreds by the latter. They still offer quite a bit of worthwhile content to listen to, and the narrators are mostly very good. The app however has various annoyances, so all in all I probably will cancel my subscription at the end of the trial period.
5 ★Installed on a whim, but it's so much better than expected. Great range of articles and the narrators are easy to listen to. I don't often have time to read as I'm always on the go, so I add to my queue at night and can listen at my convenience the next day. I just kept coming back for more during the trial, so now I've subscribed.
5 ★Updated 15/06: App kept crashing every 30 secs (old Lollipop on Samsung Galaxy Note), left poor 1-star review, cxl subscription and contacted Curio as requested. They got back to me after a few days asking me to use the web version instead and even arranged for a year's free subscription! Great customer service, web version works like a dream, created widget on my phone's home screen, looks and feels like the app but without Android/Samsung playing up! Love it, absolutely chuffed! Thanks!
