1 ★This really feels like a benefit to a contractor more than a consumer. I'm sure it generates great leads for the pros, but there's no incentive for them to communicate well or even respond to your requests. One contractor was very rude but Angi doesn't count reviews unless you choose to hire them. All in all it's a good way to waste your time.
2 ★Annoying. Continual emails and texts inquiring about the status of the project when you have just started. Most of the businesses seem to be those that are just starting out and don't have much experience. There's not a direct link up with the business, either. Each time there is a text or email indicating the business wants to give you a quote, responding takes you right back into the Angi app instead of a connection with the business.
1 ★I had Angies list for 5 years. I used it a dozen times with amazing success. I was happy with every company I used. Recently they were purchased, changed how their system works, and changed the name to Angie. I've tried the new system for 2 projects. The results have been poor. It appears the business model has changed. It used to be clients paying to get access to a list of honest customer reviews to make an informed decision. Now, the customers are the business and you are the product.
1 ★Attempted to pay our vendor through the app and kept getting an error. Went through troubleshooting steps and eventually support told us they were having an issue and just to pay with a check, providing no idea of when the issue may be resolved. The app was to provide $350 off the total so I was super bummed not to be able to have the discount. Very frustrating!
1 ★Incredibly slow to drill into jobs and back out to go to the next job and contractor details. Takes 15-30 seconds for each click with a spinning icon. This is not an app, but instead a skin to the website that runs slow. Additionally many clicks open a browser and take you to a website. Also, was sent a push notification saying a contractor wanted to quote, but was never taken to the job, of the many I have going, requiring me to click through each one looking for the contractor.
1 ★The automated "Home Advisor" service is frustrating. I prefer researching contractors & contacting them personally. The new app makes this approach difficult, taking control away from the consumer. I have to jump through hoops on the app to find recommendations from my state, let alone my city. Any directory search requires a project type to be entered (as opposed to the type of contractor) & the searchable categories are narrow & completely inflexible. It is impossible to search for what I need. Also, the replies I have received from contractors through this service seem automated & vague. I preferred Angie's List prior to the merger with Home Advisor.
2 ★The app/website/booking system is what is the most frustrating. I finally found a good cleaner through Angi and it is just incredibly hard to use the app or website to edit my cleanings and future cleanings. I always have to cancel my reoccurring plan and set it up again every time I need to edit something in an upcoming clean. Also, when you add on extra services such as laundry or window clean or fridge clean, they do not add time on to the cleaners schedule. Frustrating experience.
1 ★The app is beautiful, but beauty does not make up for poor UX. As a user, I cannot undo a fixed-rate project. Also, even after cancelling, I was charged for services I never received, as well as a cancellation fee for moving the service (after it was clear I wouldn't be matched with a professional in time) & cancelling the service (after I scheduled on my own outside of HomeAdvisor). In total, I am disputing $273 due to the ineptitude of the designers of this app. My direct-booking cost $140.
1 ★This app is hot garbage. You are better off using the site on a desktop. Most of the functionality doesn't work as expected, probably from lack of testing. Unable to view projects (shows old projects instead) and unable to upload images. Lacks ability to upload video. Use this app for contacting support or call them. Otherwise don't bother installing this summer intern project. ;)
1 ★NEVER put in requests for home projects through Home Advisor. I'm getting 2-3 calls per HOUR, instead of automatic quotes/messages as advertised. 🤬 Additionally, I've tried calling customer service phone number to remove my request for quotes, which is not able to be done via the app, but the number keeps disconnecting calls. Finally, I contacted someone through the chat option & they were able to close my requests, but not able to retract/cancel my requests, so contractors are still calling me
4 ★So far so good. Pros: easy interface, easy to contact and read reviews. Theym app connects you to contractors/specialists via a special number you can text them through. Cons: The app doesn't show your message history, or inquiries sent to a specialist. The auto text sent to you doesn't specify which project or specialist it's connecting you to. If you have more than one project going on you can't keep track which text is for which project or contractor/specialist.
1 ★What a waste of time. I downloaded the app so I could "see" messages and then realized they were just the text messages the contractor had sent me to reschedule. Wading through numerous constant phone calls from "Angi" so that they could "better understand" my need was redundant as I'd already filled out all the information online. I used to use Angie's list frequently. Now it's pretty much useless. Too bad.
