3 ★I mean its an ok app. The biggest thing that bugs me is that it doesnt keep your place if you stop watching a show. When you resume it, it typically takes you back to the beginning. I wish you could download stuff too for offline viewing. Big way to go till its five stars.
1 ★Follow up... The developers followed up to my original post (in which I bashed their money grab by monetizing the app) by stating that, if I had a subscription (which I do via my cable provider), I could stream hundreds of hours of shows by using the browser on my phone and tablet. This review is about your app, and you neutering it to make money off those of us that already subscribe. You've rendered your app useless to 95% of the people that use it, so what good is your app? Tough to quantify.
1 ★You have to pay for the subscription before you can do anything. I don't pay your feedback was ridiculous. You first said there's many programs that are Free. Then you suggested I try a free trial period. I have to supply my credit card before ANYTHING happens. What's Free about that statement ???????
1 ★Will not play any shows. On my Pixel 3, I will click on watch now and it brings me back to the Smithsonian front page of the app. Every time no matter the show
2 ★Sad, in most cases a Plus = a minus. Same here. Can still stream from my PC using my paid cable credentials. Appears no longer the case with the app. Yet another paywall. App is of little use now, will probably uninstall after the 7 day trial. Sad, will be much missed. 5 stars down to 2.
1 ★No casting to Google Chrome from phone. The old app had that ability. Users note: You can use your Chrome browser to cast Smithsonian Channel content to your Chromecast until they put that ability back into the app. Pain... but better than watching it on your phone.
3 ★I really have no bugs to complain about. But you're trying to launch video streaming...without casting?! That's the basic price of admission these days, guys. If casting doesn't show up soon, I'll be canceling.
2 ★I did not find this entertaining or informative. For example there was a very wide overview of Africa. No Africans were involved in the narration and no culture, or music involved in the narration. The used a guitar and country music as background for crying out loud!
1 ★Smithsonian Channel is going BACKWARDS! I can't grasp the thinking to cease providing access to your PAID PREMIUM CABLE SUBSCRIBERS and demand additional monies for mobile access. Not Cool! (in fact, rather stupid) I am a fan of all things Smithsonian EXCEPT your mobile streaming via this app! I would rate ZERO / NO STARS, if I could. Who's idea was this? (demote / fire the person) What would Mr. Smithson think? Perhaps he'd think his gift of 15 times U.S. Fed Budget would discourage gouging!
2 ★It's glitchy, slow and has no chrome cast support.🙄 It was better when it was free. Also, the movies and shows really doesn't change often enough to warrant a monthly fee.
1 ★What happened to being able to uae this with Chromecast? Looks like i need to cancel my subscription if i cant cast from my phone to my television. WHY would you take away such a feature? I have emailed the developer and let them know I will be cancelling my subscription if they dont put it back soon.
5 ★Just joined, was blown away by quality of video which was perfect & sound quality that's crystal clear. I'm excited to return & finish watching my monkey movie!. The format may be small but the image is amazing! I'll be back to add more to my review later but for now this gets 5 stars!
