نشر کتاب در جهاددانشگاهی از سال 1359 و همزمان با تاسیس این نهاد علمی، فرهنگی شروع به فعالیت کرد و در واحدهای مختلف جهاددانشگاهی گسترش یافت. این نهاد سابقه فعالیتهای گسترده ای در زمینه نشر آثار علمی و دانشگاهی داشته و تا کنون بالغ بر شش هزار عنوان کتاب را منتشر نموده است و در حال حاضر یکی از مراکز معتبرانتشاراتی در تولید، توزیع و ترویج کتب دانشگاهی می باشد.آمار تولید کتاب در جهاددانشگاهی از سال 1389 بالاتر از یک عنوان در روز بوده است به عنوان نمونه در سال 93 ، 430 عنوان کتاب، در سال 94، 475 عنوان و در سال 95، 522 عنوان کتاب در واحدهای مختلف جهاددانشگاهی منتشر شده است.
از جمله افتخارات نشر جهاددانشگاهی می¬توان به انتخاب سازمان انتشارات جهاددانشگاهی به عنوان ناشر برتر دانشگاهی در سال 92، ناشر برگزیده حوزه سلامت در سال 93،ناشر برگزیده در حوزه فرهنگ و مدیریت جهادی در سال 95، انتخاب چندین عنوان از آثار واحدهای مختلف جهاددانشگاهی(واحد تهران، واحد خراسان رضوی، واحد اصفهان، صنعتی اصفهان و ...) به عنوان کتاب سال جمهوری اسلامی در سالهای مختلف اشاره کرد.
