Diriwayatkan dari Ja’far Ash-Shadiq berkata: Rasulullah Saw bersabda: “Hizib ini mengandung rahasia-rahasia agung yang tidak dapat dijangkau akal-pikiran”.Diriwayatkan dari Amirul Mu’minin (Sayyidina Ali ibn Abu Thalib), radhiyallahu ‘anhu wa karramallahu wajhah, berkata kepada putranya Al-Hasan: “Wahai, Putraku! Bersediakah engkau bila aku memberitahumu salah satu rahasia dari rahasia-rahasia kenabian?”
Al-Hasan menjawab: “Tentu, wahai Amirul Mu’minin”.
Doa Jawsyan Kabir adalah doa yang di dalamnya terdapat 1000 Asma Allah. Terdiri dari 100 pasal, dan setiap pasal terdapat 10 Asma Allah. Dalam pasal-pasalnya terdapat inti-inti doa yang dibutuhkan oleh setiap manusia: Doa perlindungan saat menghadapi bahaya, hajat dan rizki saat dihimpit kesengsaraan, ketenteraman dan kedamaian saat digoncang oleh badai kehidupan, dan lainnya.
Dalam hadis2 yang bersumber dari Ahlul bait Nabi saw disebutkan bahwa Doa Jawsyan kabir termasuk doa yang paling utama dibaca di malam Al-Qadar. Malam yang lebih baik dari 1000 bulan, malam penuh berkah, malam doa-doa didengar dan diijabah oleh Allah swt.
