Discovery Insure is motor insurance for good drivers.Through, our smartphone-enabled DQ-Track, which incorporates the Discovery Insure app and our tag device, Discovery Insure clients get real-time feedback on their driving, amongst other innovative features. Good driving earns fuel rewards - our clients can get up to R800 back every month.
To get your rewards, you need to install our tag device and make sure it’s linked to the Discovery Insure app. Then, activate your Vitalitydrive card by SMS or online at www.discovery.co.za, and always swipe it when you fill up at BP. You can also get rewarded for your Gautrain spend. Simply link your Gautrain Gold card at www.discovery.co.za.
Use of the Discovery Insure app is limited to Discovery Insure clients who have installed the smartphone-enabled DQ-Track. Learn more about us .
Note: The Discovery Insure app uses Location Services. When not driving, it does not use GPS. It uses battery-efficient methods to automatically determine the start of a trip, and stops detailed monitoring soon after a trip ends. The app is aware of your battery life and will not start monitoring a drive if the battery is low. Although the app has been designed to use the phone's sensors in a battery-efficient way, running the app without a charger on long trips may drain the battery.

1 ★Sensor not recording trips. Have reported it a few times but no response from Discovery. Can't get it linked - this is the second one. Guidance would be appreciated on how to resolve the issue.
4 ★The app is a great way to check how you drive, I do find the point deductions a bit harsh - you have to accelerate in order to go forward....
3 ★The app doesn't pick up my driving - for weeks it will just show that I was driving without my phone present - which is not the case. So I don't earn my points and rewards 🤔
1 ★this app is so inaccurate with its driving monitoring. You seriously need to be a 90 year old granny driving at 30km/h or else it tells you that you are speeding, turning too fast, accelerating too aggressively or braking too hard. absolute rubbish app
3 ★Overall I love it 🙂 However, The app reports phone usage even though I haven't used it during a trip. Often does not record trips.
2 ★I find it very unrealistic. Harsh braking within the speed limit is penalised. Must I bump the car that just cut in to get full points? We drive with taxis that have their own set of rules.
2 ★My daily driver points are not being calculated although most of my trips are recorded. Also, app freezes most of the time when I want to check my daily driver points history. Wrote to Discovery several times about this ongoing issue. No reply and the problem has not been attended to. Uninstalling and installing the app again didn't help to fix the problem.
1 ★This app is supposed to be a background app. Unseen. Yet these Devs must have thought they were something special because all the damn time I get notifications popping up saying stupid things like: "Waiting to record next trip"... Imagine my messaging app wasted my time to get my attention to tell me it was waiting for me to message someone? Get your app to shut its trap and know it's place Update: Received stupid and unhelpful response. Turning off all notifications isn't remotely a solution!
1 ★Very dissatisfied that the app does work with Huawei phones correctly. It does not log my, and others', phones, even though all required settings are activated. Makes moving to Discovery insurance and Vitality pointless, pun intended. Hope that Discovery will remedy this, I am considering reverting to my old insurer and cancelling my Discovery credit card.
3 ★Even if I'm connected to the Internet sometimes it doesn't record all my trips, records the first km then it doesn't record
3 ★Doesn't record any trips despite my Bluetooth, data and location being on. My battery isn't even on saver mode. Reported the issue many times but no one attempts to call and tries to fix it. 21/03/2021 post response: All my settings are exactly the same as you have suggested but some trips don't even record. I'm from Venda and it's a long journey, I know I scored a perfect score but it didn't record, so I'm missing out on the fuel.
3 ★Functionally it works SOMETIMES with the sensor installed. The Bluetooth connection for this solution is not the most stable. It happens that you can drive and not have any recording at all even after ensuring the the sensor is connected to the app (phone). the allocation of point per drive is not clear at all (e.g. what distance do you need to drive to get the 25 points).
