Description

Bring Ford+Alexa with You on the Road: Access to Alexa in your Ford is now as easy as connecting your phone, starting the Ford+Alexa app and speaking to Alexa. Even with road noise, Alexa listens and provides you with the same information and access to Skills and features as you can get with an Echo in your home. Alexa’s familiar voice and responses then play through your vehicle’s speakers. You can access thousands of Alexa skills and services that Echo customers already enjoy. Pump yourself up on the way to the gym by saying, “Alexa, play my workout playlist.” Continue the book you were listening to, even during your commute to work. Check whether you have dinner plans on the drive home by asking, “Alexa, what’s on my calendar tonight?”

• Alexa Capabilities: You will have access to most the same capabilities as you do from home, including controlling your smart home devices, ordering pizza, checking the weather, getting your favorites sports teams scores, checking and updating your schedule and more.
• Navigation: You can ask Alexa for a point of interest (POI) and ask Alexa to navigate to the POI. Alexa will hand off the POI to the onboard navigation when equipped or to your phone to provide you with turn by turn directions.
• Entertainment: Using Amazon Music, TuneIn, and iHeartRadio you will be able use Alexa to play music (skip, fast forward, rewind, play, and pause) and even make song purchases. The vehicle’s display will show artist, song, and album art information.

SYNC 3 Software Version 2.2 or higher is required. You can check the Software Version on the SYNC 3 touchscreen by pressing: Settings > General > About SYNC. The top line will show the current Software Version (SYNC 3, Software Version: X.X). Customers can upgrade to the current Software Version using automatic home Wi-Fi updates* or a USB download from owner.ford.com.
*Wi-Fi updates may not be available for SYNC 3 versions not equipped with navigation.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

2 ★It sounds better than it is. Alexa is not really that useful while driving. Need navigation? Here use your in-car navigation or look at your phone. Play Spotify, nope. (at home she'll at least open the app on your phone) Amazon needs to at least partner with a navigation app to be useful for owners that don't have nav in their cars. Amazon still has a long way to go to compete with Android Auto in the car.
1 ★Doesn't work half the time. Usually says my phone isn't connected by blue tooth when it clearly is. It's great when it actually works
3 ★5-20-2019: After last update on 5-15, the app now seems to work with Sync3 agan. No issues 5-7-2019: Still doesn't work. Notice how Ford Ads are not mentioning this anymore? Cause of false advertising. Garbage App. 4-26-19 still doesn't work. And if it does its sporadic. 4-14-19 update.. It's working. Had to look under sources. For some reason doesn't show under apps. Stopped working after recent Android update. Please fix ASAP. False advertising
2 ★Worked well with my old Galaxy S9+, but it will not recognize the Bluetooth connection with a Galaxy S10+. Now just states to connect mobile device via Bluetooth even though it is. Tried clearing cache, data, rebooting, reinstalling, repairing Bluetooth connection. Nothing works. (2019 Ford F-150, Sync 3)
1 ★Lots of problems: -Once installed and launched, it will notify you repeatedly until you have configured it to work with your car. -It requires you to make setting changes on both your phone and SYNC console. If you aren't familiar with where to find these settings it will be frustrating. -The console interface is awful. With android auto I only lost easy access to my climate control system. With Ford+Alexa I lost easy access to all my android apps and controls. -After lots of testing, I can do everything that I would normally do (potentially with Ford+Alexa) with "Ok Google" or the talk button on the steering wheel. -This app seems to try and run all the time, and is battery intensive. If you it is not running, you need to launch it before it will operate connected to the car. -I don't have the Nav on my SYNC 3, so asking for navigation only brings up the navigation application (of your choice) on my phone. -You need to interact with the phone when your voice commands need to know which application to navigate/play music/etc. Ford, you did a great thing bringing Android Auto to the SYNC 3 system. Please just keep improving on that.
1 ★Terrible. Very undependable. One day it works the next day it can't connect. Very frustrating. Could be awesome if they made a patch and an update to fix these problems. Wondering why the manufacturers of the app have not attempted to fix it yet. Many similar complaints on-line. Works great in a Chevy though.......hmmm.
1 ★Even lamer than before. Now it won't even connect. Both phone and car show that phone is connected and all Bluetooth related functionality works just fine. But app sits there waiting for Bluetooth connection. Forced stop, cleared data and cache, etc. Disabled android auto as instructed. Nothing. Waste of time. Ford needs to get its act together. Latest Sync 3 update broke lots of things with no way to revert back to previous firmware. Factory reset also a waste of time.
1 ★I use this app on a Samsung S9 in a 2016 Fiesta. Initially the app worked great, but recently it often randomly disconnects or won't show up in my applink menu. Usually when this happens I have to disconnect phone from car and reboot phone then try again. Sometimes it doesn't work at all. Very disappointed after its initial success.
1 ★worked great once I figured out how to do a software update to the Sync3. 1/9/2019 update - gave up and uninstalled the app from my phone. Tried for a month and gave up. The explorer would see the app, connect ford + alexa, but then it would disappear from "my apps" shortly after connecting. I tried keeping my phone off home wifi, but that didnt gelp either. I think I only got music streaming successfully from Amazon twice without losing the app.
3 ★Worked great at first. Now it wont connect. Its too bad because it was pretty cool when it worked. The Ford Pass app on the other hand, works great. This app hasn't been updated in 6 months. Pretty clear ford has given up or abandoned this app. Update: Installed on new Samsung S10+ and Note 10+ and the app works well. I'm not sure what the issue was on my S9+.
3 ★Like many here, the connection is a hit/miss. However what I do when it doesn't connect is open the Ford Alexa app on phone. It will ask u to connect to vehicle via bluetooth. at this point I open Pandora which then opens up smarklinkdevice. For some reason this will then enable the Ford Alexa app on vehicle. weird.... another work around, if your phone says its connected but it doesn't show up on your sync3 screen on car, push and hold volume knob and skip forward down to restart Sync3
1 ★It simply doesn't work I tried this in my 2016 mustang and all it did was totally lock up the sync 3 system. I also tried it in my 2018 F-150 and it kept disappearing off the screen, losing bluetooth connection with my phone. So after many hours of phone and sync system reboots, I removed the app from the phone.
