O território do Alentejo Central, face à quantidade, qualidade e diversidade dos seus recursos patrimoniais (materiais e imateriais), deve suportar redes de cooperação que contribuam para consolidar a Região como destino cultural, artístico e turístico.A iniciativa “Alentejo em Cena” surge, neste contexto como uma iniciativa integradora de atividades culturais, a realizar em 12 dos municípios do Alentejo Central, numa lógica de programação e animação cultural articulada, organizada de acordo com ciclos temáticos e abarcando diversas componentes artísticas.
Estão igualmente previstas uma série de atividades transversais, organizadas pela CIMAC e que se destinam a potenciar os resultados das ações municipais, a reforçar a cooperação entre municípios e a promover o debate e reflexão em torno de temáticas relacionadas com as diversas dimensões da cultura.
O "Alentejo em Cena" está integrado no projeto “Valorização, promoção e desenvolvimento do património histórico e cultural de Évora e da região envolvente”, cofinanciado pelo Programa Alentejo 2020, no âmbito de uma parceria regional alargada e liderada pela Entidade Regional de Turismo do Alentejo. As atividades do Alentejo em Cena, todas de acesso gratuito, irão ocorrer entre janeiro de 2017 e dezembro de 2018.
