Sesungguhnya di balik disyari’atkannya shalat sunnah terdapat hikmah-hikmah yang agung dan rahasia yang sangat banyak, di antaranya untuk menambah kebajikan dan meninggikan derajat seseorang. Juga berfungsi sebagai penutup segala kekurangan dalam pelaksanaan shalat fardhu. Juga dikarenakan shalat mempunyai keutamaan yang agung dan kedudukan yang tinggi yang tidak terdapat pada ibadah-ibadah lainnya. Di samping hikmah-hikmah yang lain.
