Med denne app præsenterer Museum Sønderjylland – Sønderborg Slot et udvalg af steder, hvor Første Verdenskrig 1914-1918 har sat sig spor i det sønderjyske landskab.Under krigen var Sønderjylland tysk, og mens det øvrige Danmark forblev neutralt, blev landsdelen og dens befolkning inddraget direkte i krigen. Selvom landsdelen i det store hele undgik at blive skueplads for kamphandlinger, så satte krigen alligevel sit præg. Hen imod 35.000 sønderjyske mænd blev indkaldt til tysk krigstjeneste, tusindvis af krigsfanger og soldater kom til landsdelen, og rundt om opførtes store militære anlæg. Krigen efterlod sig mange spor. Hver eneste sønderjyske sogn har et mindesmærke for de faldne og rundt om på kirkegårdene findes krigsfange- og soldatergrave, mens der endnu er bevaret betydelige rester af de arbejder militæret foretog.
