كتاب صحيح البخاري هو كتاب ألّفه البخاري، وسمّاه الجامع الصحيح، واختار أحاديثه وخَرّجها من ستمائة ألف حديث. بَذل البخاري -رحمه الله- جُهداً عظيماً في تنقيح الكتاب، وتهذيبه، وتحرّي صحّة أحاديثه التي أوردها فيه، ويُروى عن البخاري أنّه كان لا يضع في كتابه الصحيح حديثاً إلا اغتسل أوّلاً ثمّ صلى ركعتين، ليستخير الله هل يُضيف الحديث إلى كِتابه أم لا؟ ولم يَضع البخاري في كتابه حديثاً مُسنداً إلا ما صحّ عن الرسول الكريم -عليه الصلاة والسلام- بالسّند المُتّصل الذي تتوفّر في رجاله صفات العدالة والضبط. استمرّ البخاري في جمع أحاديث الجامع الصحيح وتنقيحها ستة عشر عامًا، ثم عَرض الكتاب على مجموعةٍ من العلماء، ومنهم الإمام أحمد، والإمام يحيى بن معين، والإمام علي بن المديني وغيرهم، فأجازوه، واستَحسنوه، وشهدوا بصحّة أحاديثه، وقد تلقّى العلماء صحيح البخاري بالقَبول في كل عصر؛ بل اعتبروا صحيح البخاري أجلّ كُتب الإسلام، وأصحّها، وأفضلها بعد القرآن الكريم. يبلغ عدد أحاديث صحيح البخاري بالمكرر (7397) حديثاً، وبحذف المكرّر من الأحاديث (2602)
