Riwayat hidup Abah Anom, pemimpin Ponpes Suryalaya sungguh berwarna. Lahir 1 Januari 1915 di Kampung Godebah, Suryalaya, Desa Tanjungkerta, Kecamatan Pageurageung, Kabupaten Tasikmalaya.Keluarga bapaknya Syekh H Abdulloh Mubarok bin Nur Muhammad atau Abah Sepuh dan ibunya Hj Juhriyah. Semasa hidupnya Abah Anom mengenyam pendidikan umum di Sekolah Dasar Zaman Belanda "Vervoleg School" di Ciamis 1923-1931, kemudian masuk Madrasah Tsanawiyah di Ciawi, Kabupaten Tasikmalaya 1929-1931.
Selanjutnya menambah ilmu agama di Pesantren Cicariang, Pesantren Gentur dan Jambudipa Kabupaten Cianjur, kemudian Pesantren Cireungas-Cimalati Kabupaten Sukabumi yang mendalami khusus ilmu Hikmat, thoriqot, dan ilmu beladiri seperti silat, lalu Pesantren Citengah, Kabupaten Ciamis.
