Do you want to eat less unhealthy food? Do you want to lose weight? Then why not try the FoodT app! Download this app and choose 3 types of food/drink you want to consume less of and then play away! Simply press the item on the screen when there’s a green circle and don’t when there’s a red circle. By playing this game on your phone you will be a part of exciting new scientific research. Each time you play you’ll be contributing to research at The University of Exeter. This app is based on a similar online game, which was shown to reduce users’ food intake and weight after playing the game four times.
The FoodT app will ask you a few questions before and after you play so that our research team can see whether it helps you reduce your food intake, craving and weight. You will also be asked for a few basic details about yourself (age, sex) but the app will not collect any information about your identity. All the data you provide will be anonymous. All data from the app will be sent anonymously to our researchers at the University of Exeter and so by downloading the app you consent to this (Check the terms and conditions for more information).
The current version of the app is only available in English. If successful, we will look to translate into other languages. For the latest updates and comments about the app please see our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/foodTapp/

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.
Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?
A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading). As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.
Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?
A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.
Q: What are Android App permissions?
A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

2 ★I'm sorry but I don't think this has been properly thought through. 1) a lot of the green foods shown are ones I don't actually like or eat (ever). If you enabled the user to pick a selection of healthy foods that you do like, then show those images, maybe that'd be better. 2) because you're showing non food items, I find I'm not taking any notice of the pictures themselves - to the point that my eyes tend to loose focus and just spot the colour of the outer ring, not what is inside 3) there's no challenge to the game so its boring 4) I made up my weight because I don't ever weigh myself. I go on clothes size and size I look. Overall, it has made absolutely no difference to my eating habits either. The principle may be good one, but definitely needs more thought.
3 ★Please provide users an option to remove the random/ non food related images and to select not just food categories they wish to avoid but also "green" food categories they would like to incorporate into their diet. I agree with Sharon below that the random objects are distracting and cause you to focus more on the red or green ring around the images other than the images themselves.
4 ★I'm finding this app helps me gradually overcome my mindless eating. I've found myself actually passing up the dreaded snacks left in our work break room to include the always tempting birthday cake. I've walked passed such sinful devils 2-3 times since I started this program. Behavior changing, Placebo, and subliminal or all three? I can't say, but I'm on board and seeing success and using the app daily.
5 ★I'm so grateful for this app! It really has changed the way I eat. I cannotbelieve myself in the supermarket, the foods I crave now are so healthy andI haven't wanted chocolate or pastries since I've started playing. Bigthank you for this app! You are heroes!
4 ★I like it. I already feel like my cravings for unhealthy snacks has diminished. But it would be nice to maybe allow more than three choices of unhealthy snacks we wish to stop eating, but don't know if it's possible.
4 ★It worked very well for my husband who stopped eating chocolate within 4 days! This app encourages eating fruit and veg. Any chance you could make an app to encourage exercise??
5 ★I found myself buying and eating more fruits and veggies and not eating chocolate without any conscious effort. I would suggest adding pictures of cooking and food preparation as I think it would help me cook more often.
4 ★Love this app! When I first used it I didn't understand it and thought itwas stupid. There's no way a game could help you resist your food urges...Well I was wrong! I noticed that I wasn't craving my usual unhealthy foodsand instead I'm only eating when hungry and I'm eating super clean andhealthy foods!
3 ★I had a few tiny issues setting this up and used the email address to try to get help with it. I got an automated response that was not helpful for my situation. Is there a better way to contact someone for assistance?
4 ★Great idea and looking forward to using it but as others have said beingable to personalise the app would be good. Add more possitive images likeglasses of water etc. My main suggestion is allow multiple daily remindersto play for when people often get peckish/cravings inbetween meals like11am, 3pm and then evenings as well as the distraction of just playing thegame can often stop the craving once someone is distracted.
3 ★I think this application has A LOT of potential. I have been feeling the need to increase my water intake since I started using this a few days ago and resisting certain things has become a tiny bit easier. I already eat really healthy, the challenge will be if this application can at the very least reduce my cravings for certain foods to a more tolerable level. Also, I agree with others on this one ... It would be wonderful if you could allow for more specific choices as opposed to ,or in addition to, groupings of items. I like that you add books and art supplies to the green circles. :-) Success with your studies.
1 ★They just want your data. Stupid app, this is Cambridge Analytica scandal all over again...
