Aplicativo oficial da exposição Yolanda Penteado, a dama das artes de São PauloCercados por uma transição política, econômica e social que se desloca do nacionalismo de Vargas, passa pelo desenvolvimentismo de JK e compartilha dos primeiros momentos da Ditadura Militar, Yolanda Penteado, Francisco Assis Chateaubriand (Chatô) e Francisco Matarazzo Sobrinho (Ciccillo) tornam-se grandes mecenas, que se distinguem pela aliança entre arte moderna e capital internacional.
Juntos, eles são responsáveis por instituições artístico-culturais, como o MAM SP, o MASP, a Bienal de São Paulo, os Museus Regionais, além de contribuírem para a criação do MAC USP. Casada com Ciccillo, Yolanda toma parte de outros empreendimentos, como o TBC e a Companhia Cinematográfica Vera Cruz. Todas essas instituições colocam a cidade de São Paulo definitivamente no cenário internacional das artes.
Menos responsável pelas “ações executivas”, Yolanda é peça significativa na estratégia de atuação do casal: como “gran dama”, ela imprime às ações o prestígio social que os negócios empresariais necessitam naquele momento.
