Cotton Development Board (CDB) was established under the Ministry of Agriculture in 1972 to promote cotton production in the country. CDB started functioning in 1974-75 and started growing American Upland Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) on experimental basis. There are 2 (two) types of cotton are producing in Bangladesh named Upland Cotton and Hill Cotton.
