سنن ابى داوود للإمام أبو داود، سليمان بن الأشعث بن إسحاق الأزدي السِّجِسْتَانِيُّ، أحد حفاظ الحديث وعلمه وعلله، صاحب السنن. وُلِد بسجستان سنة اثنتين ومائتين من الهجرة، وهو والد أبي بكر عبد الله بن أبي داود، من أكابر الحفاظ ببغداد، وكان عالمًا متفقًا عليه، وله كتاب (المصابيح).شيوخ الإمام أبي داود
كغيره من علماء عصره وكسنة متبعة بين علماء الحديث، فقد طوف أبو داود البلاد، وارتحل إلى أمصار الحضارة الإسلامية في طلب الحديث ومشافهة الشيوخ والتلقي عليهم، ولقي خلال هذه الرحلات عددًا كبيرًا من كبار الحفاظ والمحدثين، فكتب عن العراقيين والخراسانيين والشاميين والمصريين، وسمع أبا عُمَر الضرير، ومسلم بن إبراهيم، وأحمد بن حنبل، وعبد الله بن مسلمة القعنبي، وعبد الله بن رجاء، وأبا الوليد الطيالسي، وأحمد بن يونس، وأبا جعفر النفيلي، وأبا توبة الحلبي، وسليمان بن حرب، وخلقًا كثيرًا بالحجاز والشام ومصر والعراق والجزيرة والثغر وخراسان.
سنن أبي داود.. مكانته ومنهجه فيه
سنن أبي داودإضافةً إلى التآليف السابقة فإن الذي ذاع صيت أبي داود وزاده شهرة هو كتابه العظيم المعروف بسنن أبي داود، وهو كتاب يأتي في المرتبة بعد صحيح البخاري وصحيح مسلم في الشهرة والمكانة، وقد عُدَّ أول كتب السنن المعروفة، وهي سنن أبي داود والترمذي والنسائي وابن ماجه.
وقد بلغت أحاديث هذا الكتاب ثمانمائة وأربعة آلاف حديث، صنفه وانتقاه من أصل خمسمائة ألف حديث؛ ولذا يُعَد الكتاب من مظانِّ الحديث الحسن. وقد رتب أبو داود كتابه على كتب وأبواب، فشمل خمسة وثلاثين كتابًا، وواحدًا وسبعين وثمانمائة وألف (1871) باب.
وفي (السنن) لم يقتصر أبو داود على الصحيح، بل خَرَّج فيه الصحيح والحسن والضعيف، وقد وضح منهجه فيه فقال: "ذكرت في كتابي الصحيح وما يشبهه وما يقاربه". وقال: "وما كان فيه وهن شديد بيَّنته، وما لم أذكر فيه شيئًا فهو صالح، وبعضها أصح من بعض".
وقد جمع أبو داود كتابه هذا قديمًا، وحين فرغ منه عرضه على الإمام أحمد بن حنبل (رحمه الله) فاستجاده واستحسنه، والفقهاء لا يتحاشون من إطلاق لفظ (الصحاح) عليها وعلى سنن الترمذي، لا سيما (سنن أبي داود). وفي مكانة هذا الكتاب فقد أبلغ زكريا الساجي حين قال: "كتاب الله أصل الإسلام، وسنن أبي داود عهد الإسلام".
