Description
Social networking becomes part of our daily communication with people. We use social networks to keep in touch with family members, friends, colleagues and public figures who we would like to follow. However, social network usage has expanded to a wide spectrum of professional fields as we will see in the Sallem App.Our project emphasized on bridging the gap between virtual world and physical interaction. Starting with the name, we carefully choose the “Sallem” as a name of the application. Sallem means shaking hands in Islamic/Arabic culture as written in Arabic language ( سلِّم ). We strive to design the application to be intuitive and easy to use. We used blue, white and black as main colors to indicate trust, innocent and professionalism respectively.
Sallem is a social network that facilitates user's location to connect friends and colleagues in person. Utilizing location awareness feature of the mobile devices as well as other ordinary social networks features, Sallem will enhance user's social networking experience and bringing life to his posts and memories that he/she shares.
Browsing, contribution and following social networks become part of our daily activities. Most of the people use many other social networks to stay connected with relatives, friend, public figures and even latest news.
This lessen people’s communication in person. For that, we build this application to give users the benefits they find usually in social networks, but encourage them to meet each other in person. We utilized location-based technology to give the user’s the ability to be aware of their friend’s presence in the physical place they are in. In addition, we give them the ability to notify those who are near them and ask for meeting in person.
Users can share memories from those meetings in the virtual world using posts and photos. We claim our application is a step in the direction of remind people that socialize with others in-person is the natural way of us as human being to communicate with others while keep using the latest communication technology.
Sallem will do the following:

Search for user's location.
Report user's presence in physical location.
Show nearby friends on a map.
Ask friends to get together.
Share impressions and memories with friends.
Comment and participate in user’s post.
Let users organize activities and invite people to them.
