A Terceira Igreja Batista de Brasília nasceu em junho de 1970, a partir do desejo e mobilização de um pequeno grupo de membros da Igreja Memorial Batista que moravam na Asa Norte e tinham dificuldades de congregar na Asa Sul, onde aquela igreja estava sediada. Com um terreno localizado na Área Especial 407/408 Norte, a Terceira desde cedo mostrou sua vocação para o crescimento e, com o passar do tempo, foi se transformando em uma referência da Palavra na cidade de Brasília.Com a dedicação e o brilho de pastores como Raymond Lorey Kolbe, que levou aquele pequeno grupo a se transformar em uma igreja de fato, e Júlio Borges, responsável por liderar a construção do templo na Asa Norte, a Terceira foi ganhando espaço e relevância nos anos 70 e 80 como promotora do Evangelho de Cristo. Em dezembro de 1989, o Pastor Mateus Esteves dos Santos assumiu o comando da Terceira, dando sequência ao processo de propagação do Reino de Deus em Brasília, especialmente na Asa Norte, e acelerando o ritmo de crescimento da igreja.
