ঈমাম মওদূদী রাহিঃ লিখিত তাফহীমুল কুরআন* আধুনিক তাফসীর সাহিত্যে এক অমূল্য সংযোজন। পবিত্র কুরআনকে মানবজীবনের এক পূর্ণাঙ্গ বিধানরূপে উপস্থাপন করা এবং এরই ভিত্তিতে জীবনের তাবৎ সমস্যাবলীর সমাধান নির্দেশ করার ক্ষেত্রে এই তাফসীরটি প্রায় জুড়িহীন। তাই উর্দু ভাষায় লিখিত এই তাফসীরটি বিভিন্ন ভাষায় অনুদিত হয়ে পৃথিবীর অগনিত মানুষের জ্ঞান পিপাসা নিবৃত্ত করতে সক্ষম হয়েছে।১৩৬১ হিজরীর মহররম মাসে (ফেব্রয়ারী ১৯৪২) মওদূদী রাহিঃ তাঁর এই বিশ্ব বিখ্যাত তাফসীরটি লেখার কাজ শুরু করেন। দীর্ঘ তিরিশ বছর সাধনার পর ১৯৭২ সালে ছয় খণ্ডে প্রায় চার হাজার পৃষ্ঠা সম্বলিত এ গ্রন্থটির কাজ তিনি সমাপ্ত করেন।
