Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

3 ★I like using the app, I do get paid for driving around, but recently I've had some issues. Earning anything. I will say that they do actually pay you, it just takes a while. Lately however the new pricing setup makes it difficult to reach a payment without an OBD device connected - I do have one, it works just fine (it works in Torque app perfectly) but this app will not let me use it - it says my speed is zero and therefore doesn't record anything. So I'm only getting $0.0074 to $0.03 per km most places. Using an OBD device basically doubles the payout. Developers, If you can successfully implement the obd devices instead of just slashing our payouts I will revise my review to 5 stars.
4 ★OpenStreetCam works pretty well as a capture app and the recent update to iD editor has made it more useful for viewing lines/tracks while editing to verify the path of the road in addition to showing the images. App could use more features to control the minimum camera timing (for phones with issues taking pictures too often) and compass alignment improvements or an option to manual set the direction based on GPS movement direction since my nexus5x is not very accurate for compass readings (setting for forward, side, behind, etc.). Hopefully support for 360 cameras in the future. Since OSC is mostly open source self-hosting is possible but beyond the public repositories not being up to date the app doesn't support using another server to upload tracks. Would also be helpful to specifically state if this is for on-vehicle photos (Cars, bikes) or if it can be used for more (like Mapillary). Perhaps different capture modes for on-foot and point of interest, or since the website can be forked an OpenFootCam website for such photos
2 ★The upload not on data setting does not work. Nice idea the implication is not so great.
5 ★Lightweight.
1 ★Change of pay rate 0.7cent/km vs 10cent/km. New pay rate doesn't even cover the data cost required to upload photo tracks. Will stop using app. Unfair pay rate
4 ★Took a little work to get it stable. Had to switch recording modes. Never had an issue receiving payment.
3 ★App is not stable from last couple of days. Hanging issues while recording and uploading is also acting abnormal. Kindly, update bugs issue.
2 ★Cannot upload tracks.
3 ★Disabling the map seems to stable it out. Still has an issue getting speed from an obd2 adapter. Adapter is confirmed working good via Torque Pro. Curious about payment considering the website and app make no reference in anyway to it (what if I wish to change my PayPal email?). The only reference to getting paid is through the initial form I had to fill out. 5 stars if you guys hold true and pay.
2 ★It wouldn't let me log in with my Google credentials unless I allowed access to my contacts! Why did it require this? If I decline, I can't log in. :(
1 ★GPS was detected but the app doesn't seem to record it, which results in defaulting the location to 0 degrees N and 0 degrees E. It is very disappointing to see an app that can't automatically connect the path taken by the phone camera with the phone's GPS
4 ★Apologies, tried to record before GPS turned green. Was able to record and upload. [Changed from 1 to 4 star rating]
