فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَعِشْ مِنْكُمْ بَعْدِي فَسَيَرَى اخْتِلَافًا كَثِيرًا فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِسُنَّتِي وَسُنَّةِ الْخُلَفَاءِ الْمَهْدِيِّينَ الرَّاشِدِينَ تَمَسَّكُوا بِهَا وَعَضُّوا عَلَيْهَا بِالنَّوَاجِذِ
“Sesungguhnya siapa saja diantara kalian yang hidup sepeninggalku nanti niscaya akan melihat perselisihan yang begitu banyak (dalam memahami agama ini). Oleh karena itu, wajib bagi kalian untuk berpegang teguh dengan sunnahku (jalanku) dan sunnah Khulafa` Ar Rasyidin yang terbimbing. Berpegang teguhlah dengannya. Gigitlah ia dengan gigi-gigi geraham kalian.” (HR. Abu Dawud, At Tirmidzi, Ad Darimi, Ibnu Majah, dan lainnya. Dari shahabat Al Irbadh bin Sariyah radhiyallahu ‘anhu. Shohih, lihat Irwa`ul Ghalil, hadits no. 2455)
Allah berfirman:
{قُلْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ}
“Katakanlah: Jika kamu (benar-benar) mencintai Allah, maka ikutilah (sunnah/petunjuk)ku, niscaya Allah mencintaimu dan mengampuni dosa-dosamu, Allah Maha Pengampun lagi Maha Penyayang” (QS Ali ‘Imran:31).
