Description

Allows you to create and launch a Debian Wheezy rootfs without rooting your device when used along with GNURoot (champion.gnuroot).

Primarily, I install packages with apt-get (http://linux.die.net/man/8/apt-get) and I suggest you do the same). To use apt-get you will need to click the "Launch as Fake Root" checkbox. A good place to start is to do:
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
Then start working. If you find out that something you need is not installed, just apt-get it. To install less, do this:
apt-get install less
That is pretty obvious, but sometimes it is not. You can use a search engine (like google to help you out). For example, I found out to install R, I should do this:
apt-get install r-base
You can also search for packages using
apt-cache search some_keyword
A very popular package to add right away is this one:
apt-get install build-essential
This gets you setup to run the make and compile steps of many SW projects.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

5 ★....That being said, the description should be changed to state that this is a sub-package(?) of the developer's GNU-Root app, and a person needs to be using that to launch a copy of Wheezy. [More details: This is just the files for Debian, the GNU-Root app launches the command-line terminal.]
5 ★A fully functioning Debian cli, working well on my unrooted Samsung Galaxy Core and Asus Memo Pad HD7. The base installation is minimal, and some dependencies are missing (e.g. cpp for calendar), but as you have apt-get you can easily resolve missing dependencies and add any extra cli applications you need.
2 ★Very strange. Installed it and it disappeared. Play Store doesn't give an option to open the app and it doesn't leave an app icon in the drawer. I'm not sure what this is supposed to be doing but I bet Samsung sabotaged my chance to use this so they can sell Linux on Dex in the coming months.
3 ★Now I have both the apps now when I launch the GNURoot app it brings me to a terminal and I cannot find how to install Debian from that terminal. Thank you very much in advanced.
5 ★Totally blown away finding it so easy to start working with. Took little time just to identify right steps to follow as docs on these are still not in right places(perhaps some like to see docs before pressing install button) to make them easily visible and few of them were contradicting and scary saying interest from Debian going low for embedded Linux or how is this project doing today as I see last commit on last year (mid-2014). That sayed will make a note it was my 1st Android 4.4 device and the smoothness removed any fear :) I installed my needs of pkgs on top :) and even they flew in smoothly. As I see there are number of unknown issues based on platforms and Android versions changing currently (me too facing few like new window, ssh etc. on Android 4.4) I would like to get little more docs so clarity can be implied.
5 ★Very impressed at how well this does what it advertises, 5 stars all day
4 ★Works great does what I want. But after playing with it for a while I got the question does it also run steamos? I couldn't get it to work maby someone else can.
4 ★I left a review on the main app, but again, why install to internal storage and not external? Is there something I'm missing? can I change this myself? Btw, great work, if I wasn't underage id donate $20
5 ★It's fantastic, but did anyone succeed to run GUI on? X11 and DE packages, even with modification I did, could not run. That really would save me a lot of time and work.
4 ★Excellent work! I'd like to be able to launch a rootfs from the terminal app of my choice, so an executable "gnuroot" shell script setting all of the appropriate options and environment variables would be very welcome.
4 ★This is a rootfs "app" - it is not intended to be launched by itself. Actually, if you install it, it does not show up as an app and cannot be opened. Instead, it intended to be used by the GNURoot app (same author different apps).
