曹雪芹（１７１５～１７６３），名霑，字夢阮，號雪芹、芹圃、芹溪，清滿洲正白旗人。康熙間，曾祖曹璽、祖曹寅、父曹頫三代相繼任江寧織造。雍正初，頫被革職抄家。曹雪芹隨家居北京，晚年移居西郊，貧病而卒。
高鶚（１７３８～１８１５），字蘭墅，一字雲士，清漢軍鑲黃旗人。乾隆六十年進士。曾任翰林院侍讀，刑部給事中。有《蘭墅詩鈔》《高蘭墅集》。
