Description
Altimeter is an handy Android application allowing you to get the true altitude above sea level (MSL) at your current location or any location on earth. It requires access to your device location to get raw altitude from the GPS signal and do not require a network connection to work. True altitude above mean sea level is determined using EGM96 Earth Gravitational Model. Main features are :• Offline true altitude above sea level

Network access is required to get the altitude of a location picked from the map.
Height above mean sea level (AMSL) is the elevation (on the ground) or altitude (in the air) of an object, relative to the average sea level datum. Normal GPS elevation considers the entire Earth as an ellispoid and differences up to 100 metres (328 feet) can exist between this ellipsoid height and true mean tidal height. The alternative, which is what we use in this application, is a geoid-based vertical datum such as the global EGM96 model.
Altitude vertical accuracy is defined at 68% confidence. Specifically, as 1-side of the 2-sided range above and below the estimated altitude reported, within which there is a 68% probability of finding the true altitude.

1 ★Your scumbag advertising tactics attempting to have me download a separate app to remove ads from yours is entirely false and predatory. FYI, your advertiser ID can be found by the settings menu on your phone, Click on the Google settings and option menu. Then click on the ads menu. As a personal note to the developer when you employ shady tactics like this. The trust score of your application will suffer And it will be reviewed as such.
5 ★I used this on a recent hiking trip in Peru. Others in our group used other apps or methods of determining our altitude. This app was always quick, accurate when compared with the others, and was available when there was no internet connection. Several people around me decided to download this app, too!
3 ★The app seems to work (as do similar ones). I am concerned that the privacy policy says they will sell my location data...and the only way to "opt out" is to install a 2nd app, extract my Google Advertising I.D. number, then enter my Advertising I.D. number onto their form. (?) I plan to uninstall this app due to the difficulty of this privacy procedure.
5 ★Seems to work good. Needed to get an altitude source for our Ford Explorer since the included navigation system doesn't show altitude and I use that feature constantly, or used to in past vehicles.
5 ★Works quite good and accurate , i am a pilot and use it to check terrestrial elevations on touristic travels and it's been accurate.Unfortunately my phone doesn't have a barometric sensor which i assume would give more precise readings.All around nice application worth to keep
5 ★Great accuracy, tested alongside a topographical map. Gives you a margin of error which is very helpful too for less well known areas. Attractive and easy to use interface and an update button.
5 ★This is the best app for altitude readings. You don't have to have an internet connection, and a tap on the screen will refresh. I was in the Rockies, and I loved seeing the altitude changes as I climbed. Definitely recommend!
3 ★It seems to be incredibly accurate based on what I can tell but I only want to give this app 3 stars since it's Terms of Services and Privacy Policy is either blank or will not load. Also, when you try to opt out of your information being sold, you have to be specific on who you don't want to sell your information to. Now, I'm not sure if you need to be specific because of a law or the company who made this app decided so but it's still concerning that you can't just easily choose to opt out.
5 ★Great app for finding your current elevation. Accurate and easy to use. Not much to change from meters to feet. Makes your brain do a bit of math otherwise.
3 ★Seems to work mostly as advertised. One big problem: it can display either GPS *OR* barometric pressure altitude; why not both?

4 ★Four stars only because it's woefully inaccurate. Sorry Mr developer I only can say that because of the fact that the way you explain the 68% chance of this and that it still put you away over 70 ft over the elevation of where I'm at right now. B (Barometric?? are you kidding me that was like 400 ft over! And it's the only thing you'll have to rely on for getting elevation with OUT data OR widi connection brw) I'm going to go home to my property where I was raised if you're over 907 ft👎
