Description
FAIMS 2 is a mobile app for offline data recording that uses a customisable module to work with your workflow. It provides a platform for offline, multi-device, spatially-aware data collection. Contact us at enquires@fedarch.org for custom modules and hardware recommendations."... the tablet app worked very well in the field and I would be keen to continue using it for subsequent sampling. … " - Dr Rose Turnbull (NZ Geochemistry)
"... The app has been such an incredible advantage in terms of workload, data quality, and a number of other data management issues with which archaeologists regularly have to deal. It readily links disparate data types that are otherwise stored separately – such as photographs, tabular logs, and context relationships. I can see this user-friendly app being easily transferrable to other projects, and the support team has been brilliant. … " - Dr Jessica Thompson, Australian Research Council Fellow and Project Director for MEMSAP
"The output per hour did go up -- by about 30% on average. The more remarkable stats to me are that the learning curve for new users seems to have been much, much less daunting. Under the old system, new users tended to take 4-5 days to really get going and reach their peak levels of productivity; with the FAIMS module, they were already working at those same levels after half a day. Also, error rates went way down (still crunching the numbers here) and other aspects of data quality improved significantly. For example, users took 10x more photos using the tablets than they did when they were forced to take photos using a separate device." - Dr Parker VanValkenburgh on his work during the Proyecto Arqueológico Zaña Colonial.

Features:
------------------
* Full offline functionality using a local server (after instantiation all features of the modules and server work without internet connection, including the GIS).
* Easy synchronisation and backup across multiple mobile devices and a local server
* File management (storing photographs, scanned drawings, digital vector drawings, audio recordings, and other arbitrary files in designated folders on the server, and connecting them to records in the database).
* Mapping / lightweight GIS, including the display of vector and raster data, and the manual creation of vector shapes.
* Full versioning (the ability to review and, if necessary, reverse all changes made to a dataset) achieved through an append-only data store.
* Customisable data storage and user interfaces, including logic. Data schemas and UIs are created using XML definition files. Customisable logic includes defaults, validation, “repeat any record” (or a selected record), and other automation to speed data entry.
* Dataset compatibility from the moment of creation. As part of project setup, users can alias core concepts in archaeological recording with their own terms. This initial process replaces resource-intensive manual column mapping at the time of ingest into a repository while still producing semantically compatible datasets for regional and comparative research (a process accomplished through a novel application of localisation / internationalisation).

Questions & Answers
Q: What is an APK File?
A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.
Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?
A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.
Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?
A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.
Q: What are Android App permissions?
A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.
