رخشنده اعتصامی معروف به پروین اعتصامی شاعرایرانی است که به عنوان «مشهورترین شاعر زن ایران» از او یاد شده‌است. پروین از کودکی فارسی، انگلیسی و عربی را نزد پدرش آموخت و از همان کودکی تحت نظر پدرش و استادانی چون دهخدا و ملک‌الشعراء بهار سرودن شعر را آغاز کرد. پدر وییوسف اعتصامی، از شاعران و مترجمان عصر خود بود که در شکل‌گیری زندگی هنری پروین و کشف استعدادها، و ذوق و گرایش وی به سرودن شعر نقش مهمی داشت.در شکل‌گیری بعد ادبی شخصیت پروین، ادبیات کهن فارسی و ادبیات نوین غربی نقش داشته‌اند. در مورد نقش ادبیات کهن، مهم‌تر از همه سروده‌های شاعران بین قرن‌های ۵–۸ هجری قمری است که این مورد تأثیرگرفته از محافل ادبی یوسف اعتصامی و اعضا تشکیل دهنده آن است.. برای نمونه قطعه «اشک یتیم» متأثر از یکی از سروده‌های انوری است. همچنین شعرهایی چون «پایمال آز»، «جولای خدا»، «مست و هشیار» و «لطف حق» یادآور قصه‌های مثنوی معنوی و لحن و طرز فکر مولانااست. یا شعرهایی مانند «کعبه دل»، «جامه عرفان» و «صید پریشان» دارای لحنی مانند شعرهای عطار می‌باشند.
