One of the complaints of contradictions in the bible is the four Gospels. Critics say that the messages do not correspond. However, common sense would tell you four different people recounting the same event will not describe it in exactly the same words or in the same way. One person would have more details than the other. But the basic message will be the same. If all four authors wrote the exact same account then the critics will find fault with this also.
Not everything in the Bible needs to be taken literally. For example, Revelation carries a lot of symbols to describe what will happen in the last days. The church is described as a woman and a nation as an animal such as a lion or bear. Once these symbols are understood then the message will be better understood.
