It shows which churches are open to the public during the day and which ones are locked, have keyholders or are open at certain restricted times. In addition, the app allows you to add your own information and each church has a link to all the main information sites:

The app is synchronised with a central server allowing you to share information, photos, ratings and comments with others.

Keyholder is designed for those interested in heritage, art and architecture who like to visit parish churches. It is not intended to provide information on service times or contact details for church officials (although this information may be added by users and is available for England on each entry via "A Church Near You").

Please Note: This is a subscription-based app. Without a subscription you will only be able to access CCT and FoFC churches across all of England and Wales plus other churches located within a few miles of Northampton, so as to get a feel for what the app provides. You will not be able to receive any updates or make your own comments or add photos. Subscriptions are available via the app. Monthly subscriptions have a free 7 day trial period and yearly subscriptions a free 30 day trial period.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

5 ★Incredibly useful. Means I can see nearby churches when travelling, links to listings and access arrangements mean everything you need for churchcrawling is at your fingertips!
4 ★It looks to be a really useful app, and I've just bought a year's subscription. I'd like to give it 5 stars but cannot because 1) the user forum seem gone, or at least the in-app link doesn't work. 2) the in-app help text is just too small and doesn't respond to finger gestures to enlarge it (is there a website that I read this from my desktop?). And my reasons for trying 1) and 2) was to try and find the answer to a simple question: if a church is marked as locked, open etc, is there a quick way to find how recent that data is?
5 ★For anyone who loves history , architecture and visiting churches, both ancient and more modern, remote and urban, this app is invaluable ,it gives you a good indication of accessibility plus comments and photos from other visitors. Well worth the annual subscription.
5 ★Extremely useful and very reliable.
5 ★Indispensable app if you enjoy visiting churches. Does far, far more than the name suggests.
5 ★This is an extremely useful and informative app to use when out and about and also at home researching churches. There is nothing else to rival it. The information about the open or locked status of our parish churches and the ability to quickly link to maps and Streetview is great, but the most useful feature is the links to the Listed Building database description and to expert websites for details of sculpture, stained glass, and background history etc.
1 ★have to pay
1 ★Expensive and you don't know that to access it you are only told after you register
5 ★extremely useful tool to explore historic churches. easy to use and provide feedback
5 ★Very helpful app. I visit churches as a hobby and Keyholder helps with almost every aspect of the trip, especially finding open churches in any area across England. A subscription is required for viewing the entire country properly, however it is cheap and well worth the money if you are serious about church crawling as a hobby or even as a job.
