Description

The low FODMAP by FM diet app enables you to search for suitable packaged UK foods when following the low FODMAP diet. It also guides you through all three stages of the diet, from FODMAP restriction, to the reintroduction food challenges and personalisation. Dietary triggers are difficult to identify but research has shown that some carbohydrates (FODMAPs) may contribute to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Restricting FODMAP intake has been shown to improve IBS symptoms caused by food intolerance but this may not apply to everyone.

Using the app, you will be able to manage all three stages of the low FODMAP diet to create a dietary plan, search and scan barcodes to find low FODMAP suitable foods, improve your chances of successfully following the low FODMAP diet and then re-introducing foods to understand the ingredients that are triggering your symptoms.

Key features:
• Scan barcodes to check low FODMAP suitable foods
• Search quickly and easily for everyday low FODMAP foods
• Quickly check the suitability of foods and see guidance on portion sizes
• Review tips & tricks from the dietitian
• Create your own personalised FODMAP profile
• At each stage track and record your symptoms
• Review full product ingredient and nutrition facts from food label
• Create your own personalised shopping lists

This app has been designed and developed in partnership with medical experts and dietitians from Kings College London and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. The app is designed for use in clinical practice in consultation with a dietitian.

Research investigating the real-world effectiveness of this mobile app to support people following the low FODMAP diet was conducted by Dimidi, E., Whelan, K., & Lomer, M. (2020). It showed that over half of users with symptoms before starting the diet report symptom improvement following FODMAP restriction.

The advice and guidance with the app is reviewed and updated quarterly by relevant dietitians and researchers, or more frequently if a discrepancy is brought to our attention from a dietitian or patient user. New and existing app features are tested with dietitians and users and feedback is taken into consideration for future enhancements - if you are a user or dietitian please write to us with your thoughts anytime at help@foodmaestro.me.

Please note:
Due to the highly personalised features within this app you are required to create a user account in order to use the search filters, try a food challenge or custom filters.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

1 ★Like other reviewers, I struggled to get past the registration hurdle due to bugs. Then when I finally got into the app it just tells me there is no internet connection when obviously there is. Emailed for help and got no response. Dissatisfying. I've got a refund 👍
2 ★Limited database for foods, even some of the most basic stuff not listed. There seems to be more of the high end food stuffs - not much use for ordinary folk like me. This app was recommended by an NHS website, so I accepted it at face value, in hindsight I wish I'd read the reviews before buying.
3 ★Most annoying bug is that it doesn't always recognize i have internet connection. This manifests itself in not finding any products in a category instead of an error message. It can scan over half of the products in my house (coop, tesco, sainsbury), quite neat. Has good FAQs
1 ★REFUND WANTED! i scanned an 200g item and it told me it was safe, but could only find the 160g of that item so bought it and scanned it again and it tells me its not safe yet when you look at the list of ingredients its exactly the same word for word... this has happened a few times now. I wouldnt be that bothered if this was just one of those silly diets but im trying to work out what food triggers agonising pain and a hospital stay... sort it out or at least update the items you have on the ap
2 ★Really disappointed with scan bar code. Practically everything I've scanned has no match, so absolutely no help what so ever. I shop in a main UK Supermarket! This was the main feature I wanted as am very new to FODMAP, was hoping it would help me learn a bit more about my food choices.
1 ★This app is useless. It used to be so good but now it's really slow and the barcode scanner doesn't work. Very disappointed after emailing the app provider to explain that this app used to be so good and asked them to try and fix it but had no response from them.
2 ★Useful in some situations but I think it just searches buzzwords rather than knowing the products and if they are suitable for example I found something in bread crumbs that said gluten free but the app said not suitable I expanded the reasons and it said cause it has breadcrumbs but dietician told my gluten free bread was fine. Doesn't make sense that had similar contradictions with lactose free milk.
3 ★Scanner doesnt work, keeps buzzing. The manual entry of the barcode does work. Stage 1 guide line doesnt work for me which I find pretty important. I do find this app A LOT easier than the Monash one. I really hope the developers will fix the app soon.
4 ★At first i wasn't too impressed, but in the last few days the app has been working really well. I would like to see more supermarket own brands, especially Tesco, Aldi and Lidl, but I guess this will come with time. This app is essential for anyone who needs to follow the Fodmap diet.
3 ★Barcode scanner works well for UK products, genuinely helpful though some inconsistencies. BUT technically, app crashes a lot. Could use better settings controls (especially turning off beep which is so unnecessary and loud). Logging in/signing up for an account seemed really unnecessary
3 ★Bar code scanner does not work, so you end up typing in all the bar code numbers and this can be very frustrating especially if your in a supermarket. Once you have found the item you have to save it to favourites to see if its suitable for fodmap or not. Not a great app.
1 ★Awful app, need a constant connection, so won't work in my local tesco as I can't get mobile signal. The scan barcode doesn't work at all, just get a black screen and no camera. The overall user interface is not friendly to use and it likes to crash. Will definitely be uninstalling and requesting a refund.
