Description
A cloudlet is a new architectural component in mobile computing that provides mobile devices with low-latency and high-bandwidth access to powerful computing resources. Soon, many cloudlets will be deployed close to cellular stations or WiFi access points so that users could use them in a similar way as to use cloud resources.This application provides a background service that could be shared by multiple applications to mange cloudlet operations and connections. It also provides an UI to configure cloudlet related settings. In particular, an application can initiate simple API calls to the cloudlet launcher service to 1) discover a cloudlet; 2) maintain a VPN connection to the cloudlet; 3) initiate creation or deletion of virtual machines (VMs) in a cloudlet; and 4) initiate VM handoff among cloudlets.
