Description

RideControl
e-bike app

The world of connectivity opens up for your Giant E-bike with the launch of our RideControl E-bike App. This new app makes it possible to connect your phone with your E-bike. It differentiates itself from other cycling apps with three core functions including tuning possibilities, fitness interaction and notifications to your RideControl EVO screen. The Giant E-bike app is compatible with all our 2019 Giant E-bikes.

Tuning
With the Giant E-bike App, it is now possible to tune your motor settings and choose a support ratio most suitable for your riding style and terrain. You can choose between stronger, more aggressive performance, or tune it for a more comfortable ride. It’s up to you. The motor comes set with default settings and is adjustable with the App.
Update your bike
With this app update it is possible to update your e-bike to the latest firmware to ensure optimal functionality of the system.

Navigation
Use the RideControl App for turn-by-turn navigation specifically designed for on the bike. If your bike is equipped with a compatible RideControl EVO display it will also show turn-by-turn navigation, so no need to keep your phone at hand.

Fitness
E-bikes offer a whole spectrum of riding possibilities—from making it easier to pedal and ride farther, to riding for fitness. The Giant E-bike App features new fitness functionalities so the rider can maximize their fitness gains and set goals by time, distance, calories or heartrate. By using the smart auto adjust support function, the system measures the amount of effort you have to put in to reach your heartrate goals. Feedback is displayed by the RideControl EVO display or directly on the App. After your ride, the App shows your accomplishments and performance including the human and motor consumption.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

1 ★Had my Giant ebike since June 2020. Just called the Giant store to book in for free service. Said I had problems with the app. Was advised to delete it straight away as it's broken and could cause "damage" to my bike. Advised to wait for social media announcements for when new app is available.
2 ★What a farce. Updates are a joke and won't let you run diagnostics on the bike unless you have the necessary updates. Which if you can't install an update, you're stuck in a loop. Best to turn off auto update in your app store/settings and only let it update once you're confident it's not going to brick your bike. Right now, my confidence is v.low.
1 ★Sign up / login is not working. This app is useless. Giant, that's not the way to promote a product. I rented a giant bike for the weekend, but cannot use the app. What a shame. I guess next time I'm testing a specialized ebike.
1 ★This app is not fit for purpose. With all previous versions of the app connecting to the bike has always been a difficult process. This latest version now requires to bike to be updated to run, but the update fails. I fail to understand how the app can be released when it clearly has not been fully tested on the products which it is intended to be used. Come on Giant you need to get a grip of your software developer and fix this app properly as they are ruining the reputation of your ebikes.
1 ★Initially the app connected after several attempts. I didn't use the the bike for a few weeks. Now the app does not connect with the bike at all. Uninstalled a couple of times, no change. Fathom 2 Pro.
1 ★Use Wahoo: Giant app is non-functional! PLEASE FIX THIS APP! Worked fine for a while and now, months later after the last update its still non-functional. Wahoo is always perfect. Don't waste your time downloading this app.
1 ★Has connected once in the last 9 months. Giant have stated that it's a known issue and they are still waiting for the developer to fix it. Utter rubbish... great bike though.
1 ★APPALLING Since the last update (version 1.4.4) I can no longer connect to my Trance e. It is telling me to update the bike firmware before I can use the app and every time I try to, the update fails. The update is also unnecessary for my 2019 bike as it doesn't have "smart assist". This means I can no longer adjust the power levels of the motor. Update - unfortunately version 1.4.5 appears to be no different.
1 ★Brand new FastRoad E+ EX Pro, and the app required firmware updates on the bike, but couldn't complete like others have reported. Fortunately, I have an iPhone for work, so I downloaded the IOS version of the app, connected to the bike, and all of the firmware updates happened quickly and without any problems. Then I was able to connect this Android app and it now works. But still, this is ridiculous.
1 ★WARNING WARNING WARNING Next to useless. First it used to crash. Now it doesn't crash but will not upload activities. Only thing it's good for is checking the battery level and adjusting power levels. Wish I had of bought a Specialized.WARNING. DO NOT ALLOW THE APP TO UPDATE IF YOU HAVE 2019 MODEL. If it does update find a copy of version 1.4.3 and reinstall it. It's the only way to get to work with the older bikes.
1 ★Was working great until the last update. Now I have to take the bike back to the dealer just to get it updated (over 100 miles away.. thanks). They really need to sort their game out with these apps
1 ★What a pile of poo. The Ride control firmware needs an update, but fails every time to connect, so Ride control feature, useless anyway, is not available, how can this be allowed out into the world, didn't anyone do some sort of testing? I would like to rate it at no stars, one star is overly generous. Further to this I attempted to contact Giant NZ directly from their webpage here, guess what, yes, that's right, no connection, nothing happened, no caption to say why it had not connected, the whole company is just so shonky, I won't be buying another Giant bike, $5300 NZ machine is ok, software and firmware are terrible.
