Please note that GPS Performance and Accuracy is determined by your Device's Hardware alone, and not by this App. If you experience bad accuracy or many False Alarms, you should try to move the Device to another place, e.g. on deck.
IF YOU ARE ANCHORING AT E.G. 30 FT, USE AT LEAST 90 FT CHAIN, AND SET DRIFT LIMIT TO AT LEAST 130 FT.
The battery is conserved by having the app running in the background, and by letting the user optionally configure a slow (selectable) GPS Update Rate.
After the Anchor has been set, you can close the User Interface screen, letting MAW continue running in the background - while you use your Android for other Purposes.
When your boat exceeds the Drift Limit - or enters the optional Alarm Sector - or the GPS Fails, an Alarm is activated.
Access to the Internet or a Phone Network is normally not required. If you want MAW to send SMS Messages, however, you need access to the Phone Network.
(*) NOTE that sending and reception of SMSs will NOT work on Tablets without a SIM card.

In order to comply with Google's new strict App Permissions Policy, all SMS-related Features have been removed from this new version of MAW. They have been replaced by an Alarm Forwarding Phone Call Feature. So you may want to make a back-up copy of your running version of MAW, before updating to this new version. You can read more about this in the Help Section of this new version of the App.

5 ★This is the best anchor watch what I have found. I been using this for several years.

5 ★Seems to work well. I've been using it for several months now while cruising the Bahamas. It has features that I didn't find in other anchor alarm apps. The ability to project your anchor position after the anchor is set is something I use every time. The filter controls are good, too. However, I am concerned that, in an effort to stop false alarms (usually from bad GPS data), I have made the filters so strong that I would drag pretty far before the alarm sounds. One thing that I don't like is that there is no way to pause it temporarily, which would be good when you take your phone with you on a dinghy trip. Overall, it's an excellent app. Edit 12/12/2018: I've been using MAW for a couple of years now in the Bahamas and the Caribbean and I like it a lot. No pause function, but you can exit and restart using the last saved anchor position. Or, as I usually do, forget it's running in your pocket as you set off in your dinghy until the alarm reminds you. Then you can reset the alarm and it will automatically start working again when you recross the line into your circle. That actually works quite well.

5 ★Have been using this app for several weeks now. Very useful to see the boat track- as it indicates how close the boat drift is to the alarm drag limit. If anchored in the same spot for any length of time you can fine tune the alarm drag distance. I also find that it does not drain my phone battery too much (Samsung S7) so I don't need to have it on charge at night. A well thought out app that is very practical to use.
1 ★Not really that good. You need to allow the anchor location to be set by manually entering a GPS coordinate, not just by bearing and rode length. We always have the person at the helm set a waypoint on the chartplotter when the anchor is first dropped. Transferring that coordinate to an app would be really useful. Bearing and rode length alone would be wildly inaccurate.
4 ★Loved the app, used it 3 nights last week and the alarm sounded once when the wind caused my anchor to drag outside the set radius. I keep forgetting that when I take my phone to shore with me the alarm goes off. I guess I should use tablet and let it notify my phone, so when I'm on shore I can be notified of the anchor drag? I think I would like the pro version, but didn't see where or how to upgrade.
