A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.
Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

1 ★If zero were an option, it would be zero. After using Tecarta for years, and loving it, things are convoluted now. I'm looking for a new app. Wish I had known yesterday, BEFORE I purchased a new Study Bible. 3/20/2023 Not much improved. I can't return to a previous chapter after reading a referenced verse in context. After reading the reference, if I hit the back button it gives the option of closing or nothing! I can't hit the back button to return to the original chapter I was reading.
1 ★The new update is horrible. All of my highlighted verses are missing. There is something called "Life Applications Study Bible" that I don't seem to have the ability to turn off. It adds text and commentary that i don't want . They changed the navigation settings. They are doing too much. The User Interface is not intuitive at all. *Update* the response below is a lie. My highlighted verses are gone. There are advertisements and you CANNOT remove or turn the Life Applications Study Bible.
3 ★Originally gave this five stars, but after the update, I'm downgrading that to three. I like to listen to the scriptures as I read along in the app. Every time you want to select a verse to begin with all the colors come up at the bottom which are completely unnecessary to me. Then when you touch the audio and begin reading the scripture is obscured by the lower third of the screen showing the play button, and I have to swipe and move it out of the way. Just seems so unnecessary. Disappointed.
5 ★By far the most feature packed and user friendly bible app! I've been using Tecarta app for years now, after trying a number of other popular apps. If frequent reading and study are your needs, this one is the best! It has multiple version downloads, side-by-side reading, offline search, bookmark and highlighting capabilities, and (one of my favorites) a very streamlined Strong's system that comes with a few versions (NASB and KJV). The fact that is primarily operates offline is wonderful!
4 ★I recently left a one star review because the redesign sort of wrecked my Tecarta world. I received a helpful reply from support and discovered some other things on my own and can do everything I used to do again. So I'm updating this to a 4/5. I find some of the changes good, and other ones are a little more awkward. Saves used to be easier to work with for example. The default out of the box settings aren't great IMO, or at least aren't to my taste. But I can still recommend this app overall.
5 ★This app has been a phenomenal tool for use at home while I read from my MEV Study Bible, other faith building books, audio's, and while at church. To my knowledge it has every version available for cross reference, it's very quick & easy to look up passages while following along with a teaching. You can highlight in different colors as well as underline. Choose versions to create a side by side Bible in landscape view of your device. And all versions are available to stream for free.
3 ★There are some features of the new app version I like, like the various Bible versions accessibility and the multi version access on a page. However, I miss being able to scroll through the home page for previous day or week's verses and lessons. I also miss the "highlighting" effect that used to occur when you chose to go to the daily verse, it helped point it out on the page.
4 ★New changes are terrible, the app has stopped working while I'm switching bibles. Please stop making changes to something that was already great. I like having different Bibles at my fingertips. The daily Devotionals that I can access on my phone is just awesome. It's convenient to be able to keep an library of my notes in one place. I would highly recommend this app.
5 ★Tecarta Bible is extremely stable and has many features. One that I like is copying and pasting multiple but not joined verses in a chapter. It keeps one from having to cut and past each verse in that scenario. It has a simple and clean interface too. I have emailed their support before and got a real and rapid response. That's refreshing.
5 ★I use several different Bible apps, but have found this one the best for me. I chose 3 translations and 3 commentaries to download, and I use them extensively. I love having the information I want with me all the time. User interface is simple and I can switch between each source quickly. I have not used any of the journal or online features, so I can't really comment on that.
5 ★This is my favorite Bible app. It is easy to navigate, highlight, keep notes, and share. It has many wonderful features, such as the ability to compare two different translations side by side. Probably my favorite thing about it is the un-intrusiveness of it, unlike another popular app that inundates your email with unsolicited emails constantly.
2 ★I've been using this app for years and loved it's simplicity and intuitive interface. Now I understand upgrades, but the new interface is extremely busy. Accessing the notes I've been making for years is clunky and more difficult than before. Having the option to hide away the features that I'm not using (extra books and reading plans) would be much appreciated. Right now, it's all just too much.
