Description

DashLight is a simple and lightweight widget, app, and DashClock extension, that acts as a toggle for your device's camera flash/led (or screen brightness), allowing you to use it as a torch / flashlight.

DashLight works great as an app, widget, DashClock extension, or Tasker plugin – the only app to combine all these options seamlessly.
Each component can also be used independently of the others, if you wish.
The widget can be placed on the homescreen or the lockscreen (or both), and its appearance is fully customisable (with the upgrade), allowing it to blend in with any theme you may have on your device.
The app allows users without a camera flash on their device to use the screen as a bright light source.
While the extension is the first dedicated torch/flashlight DashClock extension.
A small Tasker plugin is also included (upgrade only), allowing you to do crazy things such as flashing the LED upon receiving notifications, or shaking your device to activate the light. Get creative!
Feel free to email me if you come up with any good DashLight-related Tasker profiles that can be shared with other users.

Please Note:
• Due to the way DashClock works, I am currently unable to toggle the flash directly from the lock screen using the extension – i.e. Without unlocking the device.
Unfortunately, this is a limitation of DashClock, not this app.
• The widget however, can toggle the flash directly from the lock screen, without unlocking.
• The app was added due to a bug in Android 4.0/ICS that prevented me from having a properly functioning widget-only "app" (Issue 24208). It is also useful for users without a camera flash.
• DashLight will not work properly from the lockscreen if you have Face Unlock enabled, as the camera cannot be accessed by two apps at the same time. i.e. DashLight and Face Unlock.

DashLight is the most complete, well designed, and intuitive app torch app available. Best of all, it is (90%) free, with no ads in sight!

Features:
• DashClock extension
• Widget – Homescreen and Lockscreen
• Customisable widget appearance – blend in with any theme
• App – Screen light so no camera flash required
• Hide App Drawer Icon – Remove the app drawer icon if you only use the widget/extension
• Tasker plugin
• Control DashLight externally (see Devs section below)
• Notification tray toggle (off only)
• Auto-Off timer
• Kit Kat Immersive Mode for Screen Light
• Clean Holo design
• Simple, effective, and lightweight
• No ads and no internet permission required

[Devs]
You can now integrate DashLight control in to your own apps!
Simply broadcast an Intent with one of the following actions:
• com.spectrl.dashlight.FLASHLIGHT_OFF
• com.spectrl.dashlight.FLASHLIGHT_ON
• com.spectrl.dashlight.FLASHLIGHT_TOGGLE

Drop me an email at contact+dashlight@spectrl.com if you have any other requests.

Disclaimer:
Prolonged use of the LED as a flashlight/torch may cause overheating, and damage to your device.

I have only been able to test on a Nexus 4/5/7, so please let me know if you have any problems with your particular device, preferably via email (don't forget to include which device you have!).

Permissions:
• CAMERA – required in order to control and toggle the camera flash (categorised as part of the camera hardware)
• WAKE_LOCK – used to prevent issues with the flash potentially turning off when the device sleeps (e.g. If the screen goes for an extended amount of time, but you want to keep the flash on)
• BILLING – allows the in-app upgrade to work

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

5 ★Great, simple flashlight. If you're looking for a replacement flashlight function after switching from iOS 7, then this is what you're looking for. Add it as a lockscreen and homescreen widget and you'll never have to be fumbling in the dark again. And it's so simple and lightweight it's ridiculous. Fantastic app.
5 ★No BS permissions and a one touch widget. Plus extra features like auto off timers. Worth the upgrade just to support a dev who isn't pushing ads or stealing personal data like so many other flashlight apps. Working great on my RAZR MAXX HD.
2 ★Can't get the flash icon to appear in my note 4 in the notification panel or in the lock screen. Please help got the upgrade as well still nothing.
5 ★Great app extension. Well worth such a small upgrade $. I've found it to be not only fun, but actually quite nice when you need a bit of light or a lot of light during the night. Doesn't wake anyone up either! Excellent idea. Thanks.
3 ★Sometimes I can't turn off the light. I've had to reboot my phone. It needs to be rock solid reliable in this regard and it's not.
5 ★Many options. I set it to enable the flash on app open, and turn it off on app close, but you can do more.
2 ★I purchased this app today and am using it on android 5.0 and I have no appearance options (my settings are different) or a way to put this on my home screen or lock screen...is the problem with android 5.0 or?
5 ★The first paragraph of the app description sums it up perfectly. I mainly use it through the locksreen widget, where it fits very nicely (using stock Android on a Nexus device here).
3 ★The icon for it sucks though and the color of it makes it clash with many themes. They should allow you to choose the color of the icon or have a toggle for a square behind it to cut down on visibility errors.
5 ★This is still the best (IMO) flashlight app on the Play Store and I've upgraded to pro! Thanks a bunch for creating this app. Question though. Since the pro version isn't a separate app, if I were to say, factory reset my device and reinstall the app will I have to pay to upgrade to pro again?
2 ★I join the rest complain that the button does not turn on or off the torch on the Home screen when the screen is locked. I've paid money for the full version and still there is no difference between the free version and the one with money.
5 ★I knew there had to be a way for my maxx to use the flash light like the iPhone can without unlocking. Of course I just had to look a bit and now it works even better than the iPhone.
