Description
When copying files, Android does not keep the original creation date. This generally doesn't matter, except for photos and videos as it completely disrupts the gallery.Fortunately, it is generally possible to recover the creation date and thus restore the gallery display order. This is what this app does automatically.
The free version allows you to process 50 images or videos to allow you to verify that this application meets your needs. The files can be selected individually or by folder if you do not want to correct your entire gallery.
The application correctly takes into account the new PXL file format introduced by Google on its Pixel devices with Android 11.
All versions of Android do not have the same possibilities or limitations (See notes below), but thanks to an external library, it is possible to correct all types of media.
For a small fee, you can purchase the full version which allows you to fix an unlimited number of files.
Important notes:
Before Android 5 (Lollipop)
The application can process all the kinds of images and videos. It corrects the MediaStore database so that images and videos are correctly displayed in the gallery. However, the application does not touch the files, and in particular does not change their date and does not modify the EXIF data.
Android 5 (Lollipop) to Android 7 (Nougat)
The application can repair the gallery for all types of images and videos.
Here it is possible to save the date in EXIF data for certain file formats. Indeed, if Android generally knows how to read this data, on the other hand, it can only write it for JPG, PNG and WebP files. This option must be activated in the menu as this increases the processing time.
Unfortunately, for these versions of Android, it is still not possible to change the date of the files.
Android 8 (Oreo) and 9 (Pie)
The modification of the date of the files finally works. It is possible for these versions to modify the date of the files! This option must be activated in the menu.
Android 10
The MediaStore has become read-only. It is therefore no longer possible to update it directly.
The only possibility is to write the EXIF data to the files. Unfortunately, for Android, only JPG, PNG, DNG and WebP files support writing EXIF attributes. The bad news is that the application could no longer process certain videos. To overcome this limitation, the application includes Phil Harvey's famous ExifTool library, which allows you to correct all files, including videos.

5 ★Yves, I have been using your app for a while now and I have been very happy with it, I HATE my photos and videos NOT being in chronological order (as they tell a story that way) and your app has been simplicity to use when I've needed to copy or move photos and/or video between devices and to get them in correct date order. I just do not understand why Google have now effectively stopped your app from working, as they don't seem to be bothered to implement preservation of dates on move or copy from within Android OS then we need apps like yours. I hope they see sense, and remember their own mission statement of "focus on the user" because this certainly isn't focusing on the user.
3 ★its really good. i moved my photos to my laptop to send my phone for service and when i moved them back the dates got messed up but this up fixed them and put them in the right order. it didnt fix my photos taken from snapchat though which was a big oof cuz i had to manually fix 200 pics but overall its ok
5 ★Thank you so much for app! I had about 4000 photos after moving on sd card most of them got in one folder and dates organized was by recently copied. I got new phone and still same even worsted. Program work on most of pictures didn't mind $3.99 cause memories are precious then you know picture date😄
2 ★Might work for some cases but after a phone transfer the year date has become some very high value. It simply needs to be adjusted to 2020. However it shows as unverifiable and does not do anything.

1 ★Doesn't work right. It's showing me a picture of my fiance opening her birthday gift. This app says the picture was taken on June 31st. Her birthday is August 13th. So its obviously wrong. And if I can't trust the one pic, how can I trust the dates on all the others. P.S. the propogated list is full of files that were previously deleted and don't exist anymore. So. There's that too.
5 ★That app made my day, after copying a massive backup following a SD breakdown, all the date (of creation) of my pictures went wrong totally wasting Google photo ; what a nightmare! I stressed a bit when it fixed everything because then the displayed date were still wrong but that was just a bug fixed by a rescan.

3 ★I downloaded this app to alter the date of my pictures because my camera insisted I was shooting in 2012 :) However that's not what this app does. It basically does everything automatically based on the EXIF in the image (which my camera set as 2012). I'm sure this app has its uses, but not for my use case.
1 ★Please fix,w as great now has no where near the functions, and i paid for this. Google position on android 10 has made it impossible for me to change the dates on my videos, hope Google recognise the developers hard work and fix this soon.
2 ★it is able to identify the pictures and show the right dates, but after it corrected them, their order in my gallery didn't change at all. I don't know if this is a samsung problem or not, but I really wish it works 😕
