国モールベイズのアーラント山に、突如、巨大なドラゴンが姿を現わしました。
ドラゴンを恐れた王は、討伐隊を派遣するも、まるで歯が立ちませんでした。
最後の手段として王は、古文書に記された儀式に従い、生贄を捧げてドラゴンを眠りにつかせようとします。
生贄にふさわしい若い娘を差し出した家には充分の褒賞を与える、というお触れが出され、やがて一人の少女が選ばれました。
生贄として選ばれたのは、ミーアという少女でした。
王立騎士団の騎士ギルバートが、少女をドラゴンの元まで護衛する任務を帯び、ミーアの家を訪れました。
悲壮な運命を受け入れたミーアという少女について想像を巡らせるギルバート。
だが、実際の彼女は、彼の予想のいずれにも当てはまりませんでした。
なぜなら、ギルバートがミーアの家に到着すると、姿を表した少女はこう叫んだのです。
「さあ、ドラゴン食いに行くぞ～！」
そして彼女の両手には、巨大なフォークとナイフがしっかりと握られていたのです……。
