Description
Philately is the study of Postage Stamps, Postal History and other Postage related items. Philately dates back to 1840 when First Postage Stamp “The Penny Black” was released. It is believed that the collection of Postage Stamps was originated with the release of this First Postage Stamp. In India, History of Postage Stamps dates back to 1852 with Asia’s First adhesive Postage Stamp, the Scinde Dawk by Sir Bartle Frere, the British East India Company's administrator of the province of Sind, and it is divides into two parts; Pre-Independence and Post-Independence.For the study of Post-Independence stamps is provided by lot of historians and Philatelists. However, for some reasons, the details of all Postage Stamps in sequence and with details could not be compiled. This Application, by Gujarat Philatelists’ Association, provides details of all Postage Stamps released Post-Independence, i.e. from 1947, Date-wise.
This is probably a First of a Kind Application in the World where the Country’s Postage Stamp Database is kept online on Mobile Platform for General People. The Application contains Data of all Commemorative Stamps, Definitive Stamps, Miniature Sheets, Sheetlets, Se-tenants and MyStamps. The Database of Commemorative Stamps includes details of Postage Stamps with respective Stamp’s Image, Date of Release, and Entire Description in text, which was made available through Brochure released by Postal Department.
This Powerful Philatelic App will be very Handy for all Existing Philatelists, Students, Researchers, Historians or anyone. It will provide all Historical Details of India with verity of Stamps released.
The Project is Conceptualised by Jatin Trivedi and Mainak Kathiara.
