*WHY DOES THE GRILLEYE® PRO APP NEED MY LOCATION?
Google™ changed its permission requirements beginning with Android OS 6.0.
As a result the locations permission is necessary to sync your Grilleye PRO series device with your Android device.
GrillEye® PRO application does not track your location.
Important: In order to have access to the Cloud feature you need to update your GrillEye’s firmware to version 1.122 and also download the latest Android app version.
Attention: If you have the latest Android app without updating the firmware to version 1.122 you will face compatibility issues.

2 ★Constantly disconnects. Shows temperature completely different from main unit. In order to reconnect I had to restart my device several times... I bought the upgraded model so I could use my phone to track cooking times and temps. This does not do what it says.....
1 ★Terrible! It disconnects often, it starts beeping for no reason whatsoever, the range is quite limited once I move away with my mobile phone it disconnects. The probe itself is good and functional... How hard can it be to make a proper app for it?
1 ★The app really has issues getting the correct values. The Grilleye+ is connected to wifi and cloud but the app keeps showing old values. And even no probe connected if you had the app up and running and switched to other apps on your phone and back to the Grilleye Pro app.
1 ★The app keeps raising false alert notifications for temperature probes days after the device has been turned off! It doesn't matter how many times I force the app to close, or restart my phone. I just uninstalled it.
5 ★My GrillEye Pro has been the best wireless thermometer I have used, and I have at least 3 from other manufacturers. Setup was easy, and being able to set custom alarms is a breeze. I have been able to use it while on mobile and other wireless connections by setting up a PPTP VPN connection to my home router and using a dynamic DNS address. I love being able to have up to 8 probes, and the app displays them all clearly. Great app, and can't wait for the official mobile/cloud support!
1 ★The app disconnects and hangs too often to be useful. The device itself does not charge correctly due to it being very difficult to insert the plug into the device. Even if it plugs in it does not register and start charging so you need to repeat a few times. My gut feel was it was going to break at some point. The plug feels low quality. Returned the device and uninstalled the app. When the device is not connected to the app it is useless. I would have used it in my kitchen but since it does not stay connected, there was no point. Firmware update, app is the latest, phone all updated. I love the probes but feel the unit should be better quality and app more robust and less buggy.
2 ★Works ok until it disconnects from the phone. I can't get it to reconnect even "prevent mobile from sleeping " is turned on. i end up deleting the profile and pairing the unit to my phone. I've updated the firmware and the app to the latest version. Same symptoms on bluetooth and wifi. Sure hope the bugs are fixed soon. Pretty useless when it comes to remote monitoring. 6/13/19 Update: I sent the Grilleye support an email on June 2nd, per their request, and have yet to hear back from them. I have used the Pro unit four more times since my initial review and found two more issues that are annoying. 1. The unit will not power off when plugged to the USB charger. I tried numerous times to turn the unit off, but find it power back on on its own within seconds and proceeds to connect to my WIFI. Doing so sends notifications to my phone whenever it disconnects even though I don't have the app running. 2. The unit does not retain its C/F degree defaults from the last use unless linked to the phone app. I can't wait until the bugs are worked out. I love the features when they work correctly. I hope the engineers can update the firmware and app soon.
2 ★Horrible. Idea is awesome, but it doesn't work like the idea. Constantly disconnects, had to uninstall app at least 4 times and reinstall, and doesn't reload info to device when connection is lost and re-established. I used it for one cook and was more of a distraction than anything, just trying to get it function like its supposed too and keep it functioning. Taking it back to Costco.
5 ★I bought a unit last night and used it to smoke a Brisket with one probe measuring smoker heat and other meat. Works great! As an FYI, WiFi is dominant so it won't look like Bluetooth is connected but it is. Has to to connect to WiFi. Also, to shut the unit off only hold the button down for 2 seconds. Seems they had a typo in the literature. Hold it down for 3 seconds and it resets. Awesome product!
3 ★Good quality -even the box it comes in is well thought out. Easy to use. Very happy with my purchase. Update : one year later Updated firmware and app -the Grill Eye still reads in Celsius Instead of Fahrenheit. "No probe detected" is still a constant hassle. HTC 10 android When it works, it works great! Everything makes sense and is easy to get used to. The quality is outstanding. -But when it doesn't work -man this thing is frustrating. From a "5" to a "3".
2 ★Setup grilleye pro to wifi and have constant disconnecting issues from app disconnect even when im standing right next to the unit. I have to constantly uninstall the app to get it to reload the probes firmware and software both up to date.
3 ★I give it 3.5 stars, up from -3! Latest update was a yuuuuge improvement! Come on developers, you are ALMOST ready for prime-time! All I need now is for the app not to freeze up and for it to make a solid connection every time I open it up during a cook. As of now I still have to perform a Force Stop in App Settings for it to open and read correctly. Fix that, and I'll be able to recommend the product!
