Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

1 ★Can't sign in on app for some reason, so can't read anything on the app, can sign into the website without issue so not sure what's wrong with the app
3 ★The app is, in general, pretty good. The only annoying thing about it shows up when the stories have been updated at your end while I have been reading an article. When I finish reading the article, I hit the back button, which takes me back to my incarnation of the stories tiles. If I then touch a different article to read, I get a completely different article from what I want. The only way to rectify this is for me to scroll to the top of the stories tiles and pull down to refresh.
1 ★The app keeps logging me out, having to put in my password every time I want to read an article.
4 ★Unable to log in, although I have a subscription. No help from the Herald. Disappointed. Update - Developer got in touch and managed to sort out access. App a little slow, but no issues now.
4 ★I like the quality and tone of the journalism here but the app needs to iron out some snags, like crushing on some saved articles. I got some advice about how to deal with it but it hasn't solved the issue for good. Nevertheless, I wouldn't give up on the app :)
2 ★This is a most frustrating app. Most days it doesn’t update and I don’t get the blue page when I open it. That means I have to drag the news page down to hopefully update the paper but nothing will update the puzzles. We have the Guardian app which is cheaper and never fails. I have complained in the past but it never improves.
2 ★Why does the app ignore the Portrait mode fixed setting for puzzles? I do them in bed, lying down, and can't with the Herald. It's annoying.
3 ★OK when it works. However, all too often the app hasn't been updated with that day's edition when logging on at 7.30-8am. This also affects the puzzles page. I've had to email you many times to report this. Is it too much to ask to be able to access the digital version on the actual morning it's published, given that the paper version will already have been available for hours?
5 ★Excellent app Easy to use.
1 ★The summary page of the app doesn't always take you to the article you wish to read, which is pretty poor. I have brought this to the attention of The Herald twice, their last response said they hoped the fault would be remedied at the next software update. That was some time ago.
