Description

VisualAudio is an acoustic analysis tool for science and engineering applications where quantitative frequency and level data are needed. In real-time analysis mode it works as both a spectrum analyzer and decibel meter. Audio samples can also be recorded and reviewed for later analysis. Raw and analyzed data, plus uncompressed audio, can be exported via email for outside analysis.

Here are the tools offered by VisualAudio:

Live Display: Real-time frequency analysis via FFT (fast Fourier transform) can be visualized with either a power spectrum or rolling spectrogram. The time evolution of SPL (sound pressure level) is displayed, along with tools to calibrate your microphone.

Acquisition: Record audio samples at up to 48 kHz sample rates with timed acquisitions using either the built-in or an external microphone.

Data Storage: Audio samples are stored on the device, with date and time stamp for later retrieval. Recordings can be named for easy identification.

Analysis: Each sound recording can be analyzed to see the overall spectrum analysis, plus the evolution of the decibel level. Power spectrum, sound level, and raw data are displayed in graphical and report format. Also replay an audio sample to see the real-time audio spectrogram, power spectrum, and level for recorded data.

Data Export: Users can email raw or processed data in text (csv or tab-delimited) or MATLAB format. Recorded samples can also be exported as an uncompressed audio (WAV) file.

With VisualAudio, you can explore the world of sound. Visualize and analyze sounds from musical instruments and vibrational resonances. Measure overtone series and harmonics. Explore phonetics and spoken words, measure the frequency response of audio equipment, or analyze animal and bird sounds.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

4 ★I like the comprehensive set of features for recorded data, but disappointed that: 1) The GUI cannot flip upside-down. I use an external mic, which requires my device to be held upside-down when not using an extension cable. 2) I have to export in order to do calibrated measurements because there is no way to calibrate the frequency response for any mic used. Works with my external measurement mic (Dayton Audio iMM-6). I normally use an RTA, but this app has enough goodies in its analyses of recordings that I might see what I can record and then analyze (that is, anything *not* requiring a calibrated mic). Thank you for including a low-ish sample rate (8000 Hz) for those of us who work with frequencies in the musical notes region. My export shows 0.977 Hz bin size, which means you are using 4096 FFT bins. However, it would be awesome to also have sample rates at 4000 and 2000 Hz so we can afford finer resolution for working with very low audio frequencies when using an external measurement mic.
5 ★I take voice lessons and this is such a good app to help examine my voice, and learn more about the technical aspects of music.
5 ★I have tried 20 plus audio analyzer, this is the best so far.
5 ★Amazing feature set, flexible, visually stunning graphics, and FREE!
5 ★Great to help learning throat singing
5 ★Best of its kind
4 ★fine
5 ★Amazing to have so much different audio analysis tools in one app; has everything you could imagine, even data export. Also a great idea to switch the scale of the axes with a single tap - very innovative. Keep up the good work! Your app should become more popular; there is nothing better.
4 ★(edited) I just discovered that I can playback a recording and watch the SPL in real time. The trick is to choose "Level" rather than "Spectrogram" in the bar menu first. Then go to ViewData, select a data file, select the audio tab, and then tap playback symbol (right arrow). Very nice feature. Think I found a bug, though: If I saturate the sound level with loud/close sounds, the SPL/Level display will say -INFINITY and the curve will saturate at +120dB for a while at the left end, but with a staright line down to the current level.. I was even able to crash the app with loud/close sounds. Seems like an overflow error is crashing the app. Overall very nice, but some small wrinkles.
5 ★Was able to analyze overtone spectrum of a viola in MATLAB with the data export. Like the ability to record and save multiple samples!
2 ★Nothing special
4 ★So far so good
