Pembangunan markas kodam Kasuari itu di atas lahan 24,7 hektar, yang sebelumnya milik Kompi Senapan C. "Tanah itu milik TNI AD, markas Kompi Senapan C dan D, Kompi itu kini pindah ke Distrik Warmare, Pangdam XVIII/Kasuari yang pertama kali menjabat menjabat adalah Mayor Jenderal TNI Joppye Onesimus Wayangkau.
